Looking at HHI but have 1 question.

We own 300 points at Riviera and our use year is February. We love HHI but at 7 months nothing is available. I already know the contract for HHI ends in 2042 which is fine since I am 55. I am looking at purchasing 100 points at HHI and have already spoke to DVC. My question is if I purchase the HHI contract and book at 11 months but need more points, can I use RIV points towards that stay? TIA!

No. You can’t even modify it at 7 months to add extra nights at HHI. You can book another HHI night in a different reservation at 7 months, with any DVC points, including any resale points (except RIV resale). At least at WDW, they are good at not making you move.

I would absolutely buy this resale, not direct from DVC. You would have to buy HHI direct to book at RIV, but not for earlier properties.

If you buy HHI direct you would be able to use those points at Riviera if you ever needed/wanted to do so.

You cannot use Riviera points to book at HHI at 7 months out. What I do is I book a studio at HHI at 11 months out with my HHI points. Then at 7 months out, I modify the reservation to book a 1-BR using my HHI points plus some additional AKV points. You can also book a certain number of nights at HHI using HHI points at 11 months out, and then add a certain number of nights using Riviera points at 7 months out. Of course, both of these scenarios are dependent on availability.

Do you mean 11 months out? I'm not seeing where the OP said their Riviera points are resale; so they should be able to use those points at 7 months like any other resort contract.

Yes, thank you for catching that. I meant you can't book HHI with Riviera points at 11 months out. Sorry for the confusion.

This part I knew. I'm pretty Disney savvy but just didn't know if I could use my Riviera points in conjunction with HHI points at 11 months.

Thanks to all that provided answers. Doing the math, a 100 pt. contract will give us exactly what we are looking for so now to get my Riviera contract paid off first, hopefully by the end of the month, then we will make the decision on HHI.
