How bad are crowds in August? Looking around August 18th for 6 nights again..I know its hot as hell and humid as hell, but how are the crowds?? Obviously we are staying onsite at Portofino again, and will have Resort guest access

since you are staying onsite, the line waits will not be an issue for you and the family.


the last week of august the hours are cut and crowds are gone.
families have kids that will probably be back in school at that point.


you will have crowds from the beginning of the month thru the middle of the month of august.
sometimes the 3rd week of that month will have some crowds.

when you see the hotel rates dropping and the park hours cut back, that's a real sign that the crowds will not be in the parks.

We usually go the week before your date and we have never had any problems with crowds. We stay at the HRH and use the express lines but even the wait times for the regular lines are always low. You shouldn't have any problem at all.

We went around that time this year and it wasn't too bad. It was hot like you said and of course the usual busy places (WWoHP attractions, Despicable Me) were jammed but otherwise it was all very doable and we stayed offsite!

Thanks guys...Looking at historical data it looks like the hours last year went back to shorter and the hotel rates dropped around that time frame.SO I am guessing that is a good week..I really want to go sooner, but with my 8 yr old having some anxiety issues related to school, pulling her out during school is not recommended right now

when you see that, you know the crowds won't be there.

Nice! I'm glad to hear that, since we're thinking about going during those dates, too, before my big guys go to college.

We often go the last week in August. Crowds are moderate but it is definitely hot. We go in the morning and take afternoon breaks at the pool. It is too hot for us in the mid-day sun.

We`ve been twice last two weeks in August and it`s a really good time to go.

The first week both times were slightly busier than the second but still very enjoyable and a lot quieter than july this year........Now that was busy!!!!!!!!

We never spend a full day in the parks and just like damo said take breaks in the pool or we head off to a mall for a couple of hours. It does get extremely hot but it`s fine.

If we couldn`t go September I`d be more than happy to back last 2 weeks in Aug

Yep, the heat and humidity are something to be taken into consideration that time of year. I did think July was worse though........won`t go back then if I can help it.

But crowd wise last 2 weeks in Aug were really good

End of August the parks are empty. The most I waited was 30 minutes for Disaster

I found this August really busy to be honest the last 2 weeks.

I'm not sure if it was due to the Olympics or not.

We are from the UK and I think a lot of us Brits waited for the Olympics to end before taking our trips this past Summer.

Hopefully this August will return to normal
