Look what I found!!!

We have a very similar photo. I know the pink is very pretty but I have a to say that it gives me a warm feeling because it was my first trip to WDW and I was hooked. I've been 7 times now and recently joined DVC.

I saw it as well. I'm not sure if I have any photos.

Am I the only one that remembers that the spires of the castle would blow in the wind? Did I imagine that?

I can now say it was a great idea to get rid of the trees! At first I thought it looked so bare, but it was definitely the best move.

Oh my! How old is that picture? And what IS that sugary confection in the background? Please don't tell me it's Cinderella's castle. Is that WDW? Burning questions...

That would be 1997. I went to WDW for my honeymoon. I had not been to the park in 9 years, this was my husband's first trip. I broke down crying when I saw what they had done to the castle.

For months I had been talking up WDW to my (then) fiance and telling him how fabulous the castle was, how much bigger it was than the one at DL, etc.

I know a lot of people thought the castle was neat like that. Persoanlly I hope there is a special corner in hades for the person who came up that pink castle idea.

If there's not....how about you and I take them out back and show them what we thought of their having our castle look like that on our honeymoons? :rolleyes1

I just read that to my husband. He said what would have been better is for that person to have the inside of their office painted that color and making them live with it the whole time the castle was pink.

PS: Happy 10th anniversary next year!

The first time I went to Disney was when the castle was decorated like the pic! I was in complete aawwhh! I was so excited to finally be there I didn't care how it looked so to me that is a memory that I will never forget!

The castle was decorated as the sugar plum fantasy when I brought my daughter on her first trip,so it will always look beautiful that way to me.

If I can find it, I have a picture from the 80's...I remember wearing my Wham shirt!!! Gotta love the 80's!
Gee, thanks. Now I've got the following running through my head...

"Wake me up, before you go-go. Cause I ain't planning on going solo. Wake me up before you go-go. Take me dancing tonight. I wanna hit that HIGH!!!"

Just wonderful. :rotfl:

1997 was the first time dh went to DW. We loved the way the castle looked. Of course on the way home, we discussed how we had to go back so that he could see the castle sans cake. And of course we were seeing signs up for the upcoming park... Animal Kingdom.

I have to admit that we loved the castle for the 25th birthday celebration. I can understand the disappointment of others, too. We had been several times before, so the cake was a special treat for us.

here's another angle (LOL)

We went in 1996, when the cake was a work in progress. This was DD1's first trip, and we were on our way in on a Disney bus early in the morning. From far away I thought it was just the way the sun was hitting castle, but as we got closer, it didn't go away...it was getting brighter! It still looked like a castle, only it was pepto-pink!

I kind of liked the 'gold bling' on the Happiest Celebration version of the castle, and I'm sad it's not going to stay.

Wow... That would dissapoint me if that was my first time to see "the castle". I was a lil disheartened when my sisters first view of the castle had all the gold charecters and that huge hidieous plaque mirror thingy. Im so glad that is down now too. Really the castle is beautiful as is.

Boy do I remember this. I was their. It was different but glad it is gone.

I still have nightmares about that castle. :lmao:

We went twice hile it was pink, the second trip we were hoping hat it would be back to normal, no such luck...I cant wait to go and have it looking normal again!
