The DisneyParks blog just posted an article for "Wildlife Wednesdays" with the loggerhead turtles returning to the ocean at Vero Beach. I know Kevin mentioned how much of a fan he was of this event on the show. Maybe they took the trek down again...

This picture is just totally bunk!

These turtles return to the beach to lay eggs based on the phases of the moon. A full moon is the beacon that brings them from the water.

This is why you have to have a red colored flashlight and cant use your car headlights. People that live near the possible nesting areas are requested to use black out curtains on the windows facing the water.

This doesnt happen in bright, sunny, Disney controlled environments.

This happens in the sticky, humid, mosquito infested, middle of the night and usually as far from people as possible.

Turtles just dont pull up to a Disney resort, back into the police tape barricade and start popping out eggs.

And Jack....I'd never wear pink socks to a turtle nesting. They make my legs looks short.

Just to clarify "Kevin's outfit" of white sneakers & pink socks also contains capri pants. Maybe Pete brought them back directly for Kevin from the Isle of Capri.

By far, that segment has become one of my favorites. In fact, that entire show had tears rolling, I was laughing so hard! I am keeping it on my iPhone for my bad days - I can't help but laugh when I hear Kevin's description of the turtles and the discussion of fudgy pickles! The Dis Unplugged can turn my days around very quickly
