Look at this house

mom2rb, I just meant wow I am moving because the housing prices seem so much lower. Sorry for the confusion.

I am staying in Philly forever. But I do dream of having a house were I can see the Castle everynight. LOL

BTW, the taxes are not bad, epecially with no income tax.

Taxes on that house where I live would be around $15,000/year.

HOLY BATMAN!!!!!
We just bought a house in Aug. and payed 290 for a 2200 sq ft house.
That house is ones we have looked at and said one day. lol

The floor is nice but I think they went way over board in putting it in almost all the rooms. It's a great house!!

WOW!!!! Can't get over how low the price is for such a huge house. Nothing like that here in MA.

Maybe we need to move to Texas?!

Oh, honey..................................................................................?

I agree with area rugs! You cant even get a dumpy shoebox sized house around here for that price! I cant believe the regional price differences in houses!

Haha, see, I was thinking how it was a little pricey!! =) =)

TX real estate prices are amazing, but we try to keep it underwraps.

I couldn't live with the floors - completely NMS - but I think you could just replace them all. By the time you buy some nice area rugs for the entire house, you could probably lay hardwood yourself. Places like Lumber Liquidators have it pretty cheap!

Wow! It's amazing what your money will buy in different parts of the country! Here is what that price will buy you in the area where I live. Quite a difference.

So I think the house is very nice, however, I think I do understand your concern about the floors. How hard would it be to remove them, and replace them with something else? It appears that the marble is in quite a few rooms.

OMG....I want to move to Texas if prices are like that!!!! That is an amazing price for that house!!! And the taxes are very reasonable also.....but I am comparing it to prices here in the Northeast. I would RUN to buy a house like that at that price!!!!!!

The house is very pretty and I am amazed at that price!! We couldn't touch that for under a million around here! I could not live with those floors though. They are just plain ugly. It's beyond me why anyone would put marble anywhere besides the bathroom. It reminds me of the Beverly Hillbillies where they had marble in the whole house cuz that's the good stuff! LOL!

I don't think the floors are that bad. I just have to make a comment about the price. I live in Staten Island, New York and a house like that is a $2 million dollar house. I can't believe the difference in prices.

I've only read page 1 of this thread so far, but personally I like the look of the floors. And set on a diagonal? The homeowners put a LOT of money into that!

If it's something you don't think you can live with and want to cover them up, I'd suggest either area rugs or a floating floor like laminate or cork. Wall to wall carpet would involve tack strips to be installed around the perimeter, damaging the marble, and that marble will add more value to the home than carpet or laminate.

I am not crazy about the floor, but the home is beautiful. Put an area carpet over them for now and then when you have the money, replace them.

Katy is real reasonable. That would be a big house for the price around here too particularly since you have a pool.

Look into putting flooring over the marble. Some people would love that stuff if you bought it and ever decided to sell later on.

That's just weird... marble floors in the family room, but carpet in the bathroom? :confused3

That was the first thing I thought! Marble floors remind of of some upscale old mansion where the decor should be very, very ritzy. Some nice area rugs though would warm it up.

It's fine int he entryway, but I'd be putting rugs or something over them elsewhere in the house.

But, if the rest of the house was perfect, I wouldn't let the floors stop me from buying it.

Floors can be changed or covered up.

It's a really nice house but my first thought when seeing the floors was, "That's an accident waiting to happen!" I can see having marble in the foyer but in the kitchen?! Maybe they're very neat cooks or just never cook at all? Me, I'd be slipping & sliding because I'm constantly spilling stuff on the floors. :rotfl:

Don't be swayed by the folks on the coast, they think it is a "great deal". :rotfl:

Seriously I imagine the costs to get rid of the marble would be astronomical. Not even worth doing.

I HATE GREY!!!! I don't mind the marble, I just absolutely hate the color. Nothing goes with grey, it is a very limiting color.

I can't say yea or nay unless I see it up close.
