Day 6 continued
So while touring the site a little bit, we enquired about whether they would be doing DVC tours of the new cabins. Turns out that they had a tour scheduled for 4 PM. We met the guide in the lobby at 4 PM. We were the only ones on the tour, except there was a Disney PR person in the lobby, and she asked if she could tag along. We told her she could be our cousin Mary.
For those that don’t know – as part of the Copper Creek DVC – they are building 26 2-bedroom cabins on the lake around Wilderness Lodge. These cabins are super expensive per night, though not QUITE as expensive as the Poly Bungalows. We could stay one or two nights in one of these, instead of our usual 10 nights a year. I suppose if we won the lottery. The entranceway:

I can’t remember if this is the master bathroom or the 2nd bathroom – but it’s nice:

We also got a tour of the standard studios and the one bedrooms at Copper Creek. A much more modern look than the rooms we were currently in. Our guide was fantastic, we talked to him for close to an hour and he was very candid about a lot of things – knowing that he wasn’t selling us on DVC as we were already owners. (We implied that we had bought direct – not resale though.) We talked about the cabins as being a potential issue for studio availability. (The average DVC buyer is not buying enough points to stay in the cabins, but the distribution of owners at CCV are assuming that a large fraction of owners there will use the cabins. Because of this, a very small percentage of points at CCV are allocated to studios, so with the normal concentration of owners wanting studios, the studios will be in higher demand compared to the number available. In short – if you own at CCV you are going to have a hard time getting a studio and there’s going to be a LOT of upset owners regarding this.)
On the other side, we talked a lot about Riviera and the next steps for DVC. He didn’t really know where it was going after Riviera, and I told him the rumors I’d heard, but nothing concrete. There’s a part of me that’s very tempted by Riviera – though again I can’t afford the current Disney Direct price point. Wish I could though! In the end, we gave him a Cast Compliment on twitter when we got home, and he was given an acknowledgement.
Once the tour was done –we got back to our room and the luggage was being delivered.
Until next time!!
