After numerous years of reading the DIS and listening to the podcasts that are filling my iTunes playlists, I figured it was time to begin contributing to the conversation! i guess one can only be a fly on the wall for so long. That being said, we're looking forward to learning from the Disney veterans, connecting with new friends, and enjoying the banter on the boards.
A brief history of our family and our Disney experiences - both my wife and I grew up making several trips to WDW, mostly of the variety of every couple of years as teens. Now, we look forward to sharing the Disney magic with our two kids (5 1/2 year old girl and a 10 month old boy).
Two years ago (before our son was born), we enjoyed our first WDW trip with our daughter. As proud parents of the 'typical' Disney daughter, our days were filled with watching her enjoy the special place we have all come to enjoy followed by meal after meal with the characters. And yes, we made use of every Disney princess costume that made the trip from Texas. Her "belief in the magic" and laughable smiles were emotions my wife and I will never forget. There is nothing like seeing your daughter ride Dumbo for the first time, make the magic wish in Cinderella's Castle, and exude a look of amazement as the stars of Illuminations and Wishes burst over her head. As all proud dads out there have experienced...I guess this could be classified as "one of those moments".
In Sept, we are surprising her with another trip. Our plans involve waking her up early in the morning and telling her "we're going to Disney World!". We look forward to another memorable trip at the parks as well as another great stay at the Poly - our favorite WDW resort. Unfortunately (but it's a good thing)...we've made the tough decision to leave our young son with the grandparents; it's difficult to leave him for a trip; however, his Disney times will be in the future.
All that to say - a big Texas hello to all of our new DISBoards friends. As our trip quickly approaches, i guess there is no better time to join in the conversation!
