Friday 30th September

We are at typhoon lagoon today; we arrive for the 10am opening and sit by the ketchakiddie creek. I have to say that after blizzard beach I was not impressed with t/lagoon, you can tell it’s an older park than blizzard beach. Im also not a lover of sand and the kids wanted to play in it so that put me off, the stuff goes everywhere. :guilty:

Dh went on the crush and gusher and he took the kids on the family raft ride whilst I sat and read some more of my book. :rotfl2:

We had lunch at leaning palms (burgers for dh and the kids and chicken sandwich for me) we had not eaten much of it when ds said he felt sick so we decide to head back to pop for a rest.

We got back to pop about 2pm and I manage to persuade both of the kids to have a nap! Nothing short of a miracle, DH goes out to the pool while I watch the kids.

We have an ADR at the Grand Floridian for 7pm so when the kids wake-up they are bathed and changed into (relatively) posh clothes ;)

We catch the bus to the magic kingdom and I am amazed to see all the people in costumes as tonight is the 1st night of MNSSHP, I had brought Halloween costumes from the uk but decide I might get Disney ones now I have seen what everyone else has got on. We get on the monorail and it doesn’t break down this time so we arrive at the grand Floridian a little early for our ADR.

Again we get a pager (a system I like) and we go and sit in the lobby.
I amuse myself people watching and even the kids sit and behave

suddenly there is a commotion on the stairs and it’s a bride and her bridesmaids having her photo taken, they must have got some lovely pictures.
We are then called to our table. I have not been too 1900 Park Faire before but I was very impressed. The food was lovely especially the strawberry soup and even the children eat well.

We get pictures with prince charming, Cinderella, suzy, perla and belle before we leave and we catch up with the fairy godmother in the lobby.
(Total cost $99.58)

The Magic Kingdom looks great when we get back and I am pleased that I have booked us in for mnsshp on Sunday 2nd October.

Shopping at Premium Outlets and Downtown Disney tomorrow. :)

The Floridian sound great Nat, and the kids look lovely too. I'm really looking forward to hearing all about MNSSHP - so get typing missus !!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Natalie,
I'm continuing to enjoy your reports. So generous of you to share in such detail. Thanks, Susan

ps If you will allow me, I have a point of information for Disney history buffs:

I have to say that after blizzard beach I was not impressed with t/lagoon, you can tell it’s an older park than blizzard beach.
Although the theming of Typhoon Lagoon includes that sun bleached castaway look (kind of like LOST will look if they stay stuck on that island much longer!), Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon were both built about 10 years ago, not much time between the two openings. I'll have to look in some old guides at home to pinpoint the dates.

Great report Natalie. Have done GF for brekkie but never dinner - was it buffet style?

I, too, am waiting to hear all about MNSSHP and looking forward to seeing your costumes.

Thanks for the info about TL - I had been dithering between BB and TL for our visit next year but I hate sand too so BB it is :sunny:

LOST[/B] will look if they stay stuck on that island much longer!), Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon were both built about 10 years ago, not much time between the two openings. I'll have to look in some old guides at home to pinpoint the dates.

that will teach me to rely on info from dh ! :rotfl:
thanks susan

Typhoon Lagoon is the older park by 6 years (opened June 1 1989). Blizzard Beach opened on April 1 1995.

Great reading again, the GF certainly sounds grand.

We did both water parks but I think I liked TL best, although not a lover of sand it wasn't too bad and DH loved the wave pool.

Thanks for the TL and BB information, John. I really thought that the opening dates were about 2 years apart. Obviously, relying on Disney memories that are starting to blend together through the years has no assurance of accuracy. I'm still at work with Disney reference books on the shelf at home, so should have kept out of the discussion until I checked for those dates. I apologize for the dis-information. There are so many dyed in the wool Disney fans who participate on DIS, we can always count on excellent and rapid fact checking to correct mistakes.
See how educational this forum is, Natalie!?

Great report. GF is lovely. I can almost feel I am there when I see your pictures.

Your holiday sounds wonderful. Can't wait to see what you think of MNSSHP

Susan

lovely instalment.:) Love the photos of your dd and ds with Cinderella.

GF sounded and looked lovely. Well down for DS and DD enjoying it as well. They look great in the photo :)

Lovely report Natalie, the kids look cute and on their best behaviour. :)

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Can't wait to hear what you thought of MNSSHP and see your costumes. We went in 2003 but didn't get dressed up :teeth:

Amother great day. Yep I'm looking forward to the MNSSHP too. Just wondering what type of costumes you saw, especially for adults. keep up the great writing,

Claire xx

If we're voting--Typhoon Lagoon for me, please. Although, that snow family at Blizzard Beach makes one of the all time great photo opps.

The photos of the children are lovely Nat, another great day. Off to read the next.
