Longshot Question re:Pets

Well, it's more of an availability thing for them locally. Their vet doesn't do boarding for more than a day or two and they live in a rural area that doesn't really have anywhere else to do so.

They're actually the ones that approached me about trying to find options to work around. Right now, Ft Wilderness campgrounds and Best Friends are looking like the best options, but I've got a little more than a year to plan and work this out.

If you choose to use Best Friends Pet Care, be sure to book months in advance. They fill quickly and require a consistent booking, meaning - if they only have spotty dates available, they don't allow pets to switch between kennel types during stays due to stress, etc. It's a really nice option to visit daily (walks/pills/etc) and not worry while at the parks.

I know how hard it is to travel and to be sure your pets are well cared for. In my town we have a forum folks chat on, and I can tell you that when someone asks about a pet sitter people respond. It does not take long to get to know the folks who come highly recommended and who are trusted to care for your animals the way that you do.

I think that having someone care for your animals at home, rather than having to board them can be a preferable alternative for animals who get stressed if they are left in unfamiliar environments.

We made reservations with Florida Rentals and rented a Pet friendly RV that sleeps up to 12. A seven day rental with the premium site we are looking at around 250.00 after tax a night. Name any where on property that you can sleep 12 people, have access to a full kitchen, and bring your dog for that amount? I think this is the unspoken value for group and pet traveling for those that want to stay on property.

Let me clarify 250.00 per night, not for the week.

Nowhere, that's why so many large families love FW. But are you actually sleeping 12? I mean your value goes down if there are only 4 of you- because there are places on property you can sleep four for less. (Also, I believe FW actually charges extra for the last 2- only 10 included, or maybe they just force you to get another site)

Very true, that's a good point, but none of them will allow pets. Now you could go with a smaller camper and the overall cost would be less as well, but we opted for a bigger camper for more room. We will have people visiting while we are there and wanted to have a spot for naps and also another room to block off for the pup if people were going in and out and not have to keep him in a kennel.

This sounds great as we were looking into something like this, Did Florida Rentals set up your RV at FW?

I'm not the OP, but a quick google search revealed that every RV rental company servicing Ft. Wilderness offers RV delivery and setup, and most of them offer the service free of charge.
