Longest interviewing process you've ever had?

DH started interviewing w/a co. in Ohio 7 weeks ago...and the process continues...at a snails pace! This is SO frustrating..it's a European owned co. and the big wigs are back and forth so the process is arranged around their availability, totally understandable, but boy, this is the LONGEST process DH has ever gone thru so far. He has had to juggle local interviews around the out-of-state ones, around current job, and current job trips....he is burning the candle at both ends. Anyone else run into drawn out interview situations? One thing ithat is concerning us is relo timing if he does get the offer....at first it looked like no problem, now I look at the calendar and see that it will be a tight squeeze selling/buying houses and moving B4 the fall school year starts if things keep moving along at this pace. Not ot mention totally missing the housing market for selling!

update on my own post...DH rec'd a call that next week he will be contacted for next step... normally I would say we've been fed a bunch of hooo-haaa, but htey are legit....DH must be the guy they're keeping around if any other candidates turn down the offer.....;)

In one day? THREE and a half hours..

All I kept thinking was, "Gee, by the time I'm done here I can probably start collecting my Social Security and forget about working at all!"

Not a personal experiance but a friend I work with has been interviewing with IBM and they have 5 interviews to go through. It stretches on 1 interview every 3 months or so. He is now on number 3.

It is so draining to be wondering "if" all the time. DH is not as surprised as I am since his own co. has the same situations trying to coordinate various bosses from diff. divisions etc., this is such an investment time-wise! C.Ann....of the 5 phone/teleconferencing interviews DH has done so far, the shortest was 2.5 hours! And his cell phone battery died during that one! He was on a work trip and didn't want any trace of the interview to catch up w/him, so used his cell....we now own a back up battery.:p Did you get the job that had that long interview?

They offered it to me - with a HEFTY salary I wasn't expecting - but I was so turned off by the interviewing process I turned them down.. If an interview could take that long, I was scared to death of how long their WORK DAY might be... LOL:teeth:

I'll be praying your DH gets this new position! And if not, maybe they could pay him for all of his time they've taken up - LOL..:teeth:

Here Pam, your gonna be needing these....

DH had an interview in May & didn't hear anything at all until July. Then he went for the second interview and wasn't hired until October. It was a long haul. I wish speediness for you and your DH!! Good Luck!

In 2000 I sent in a resume for my current job in March. Got called for an interview at the beginning of June. Got called for another interview in the middle of June. Pretty much was hired, but had to undergo a background check. Not a big deal, except for the fact that it took four months! My first day on the job was October 2, 2000.

I'm still here though. :)
