Longer stay VS Better Resort

Depends

If I'm solo in January I'll go for a value and a longer trip. I spend a lot of time in the parks and don't need a pool.

If DH (not a huge theme park guy) is along in September we need a nice pool and a bit more space so we'd do the shorter stay in a Deluxe.

Better resort. Definitely better resort. Location, better pools, more eating choices, etc.

Better resort. To me, the resort is almost as much the destination as the parks (or at least when I went in the parks that's how I felt...now I don't even go to parks...).

I think it really depends on how long your trip will be.

If you're talking about a 3 day trip at a nicer resort vs a week at a lower grade I'd go lower.
But if you're talking about a week trip at a nicer resort vs 10 days at a lower grade hotel I'd go nicer.

Depends on how much you would have to shorten it. If you get at least 5 days to a week, I'd say better resort. If less, longer stay, or look for a nice resort further away and use Uber.

I can never lengthen stays so I'd go for the better resort. My husband always says long weekends are enough. At least with the better resorts I'm happier.

Longer stay.

I hate paying for hotels - the price per night of even the value resorts drives me nuts. I think it's because I subconsciously translate my mortgage and other house-related bills into a $/night sort of number, and hotels are just SO much more than that. And that's with no kitchen, less room, etc. I get why hotel rooms are priced that way - I didn't say my thoughts necessarily make sense ;) - but it still drives me nuts. So I always go with a cheaper hotel, as long as a basic level of quality is there.

I also have to travel cross country, which is essentially a whole day ordeal each way, so going for a short stay makes NO sense.

I guess I'm voting for longer stay by picking more trips over better resort. I would rather take two trips at a lesser resort than one trip at a nicer resort.

I usually go for longer stay, with POP being home-away-from-home, but request what I consider the best room which is upper level lake view. Also love POFQ and will lop a day or two off the trip length to make it fit the budget when I'm in the mood.

We only stay onsite. We opt to go for 10-11 days when we go and always stay at a value. I assume I could stay half that time at a moderate instead? I would much rather escape reality longer though.

Better resort, but I don't like to be away on vacation for much longer than a week.

It really depends. If you are staying longer in a value resort, I would definitely stay in a nicer resort. I always felt like cattle in the value resorts. I like the DVC resorts because they are much more laid back. If you are originally staying in a moderate or above, then I would go for the longer stay.
