As with many other previously popular collectibles, I think oversupply and a limited number of collectors combined the internet/e-bay effect have made resale values on most Longaberger stuff negligible.
My SIL was planning on selling most of her collection, then she researched the going prices on e-bay. She said compared to what she paid, most of her items were selling for pennies on the dollar (and she was into LB big time in the day and had lots of higer priced and hostess items, etc) I think she only ended up selling one or two higher demand items, and is keeping the rest.
Don't feel bad though, I think the same is true of many different collectibles; Lladro figurines, Thomas Kinkade prints and miniatures, Hummel figurines, Norman Rockwell plates, anything Franklin Mint, and of course kid toys like Cabbage Patch Kids and Beanie Babies, etc, etc.
From an article I found on collectible values, or lack thereof:
"If you treasure one of these items, don't let the drop in value diminish the pleasure you find in it. If it tugs at your heartstrings, it's worth what you paid for it. Be content with that -- and don't check eBay."
