We returned home last week from a stay at VWL. We spent 6 nights in a 2 bdrm and 2 nights in a studio. We started off as a party of 12 (6 adults, 6 kids all under 5:scared1:) and had a 2 bdrm and a studio, 3549 and 3560. We arrived at around 10:30 am on a Tuesday and of course, none of the rooms were ready. We went to play in Magic Kingdom. This was our first trip as parents. Our boys are 18 months old. We brought another family who was there for their 4th visit and one family that had never been before. Our rooms were ready around 2ish. What a delight to see the 2 bedroom had such a view of the trees and water. The rooms were super clean. Much nicer than expected.
We loved VWL. It is now our favorite resort! We had great meals from Roaring Forks and enjoyed the pool and grounds.

Wednesday was a day we had been waiting for. It was the day our friends with little girls had breakfast in the castle and for us, it was our boys first haircut! It was long overdue. We arrived 30 minutes before our ADR which was at 10:15. Anybody who wants to do this, get an ADR, preferably for early in the day. By 10am it was a madhouse. People with ADRs couldn't get up to tell them they were there. Those without ADRs were rude. This system needs a bit of work. Neither of my children were cooperative. The staff did what they could to entertain them. All in all, their hair is cute and we have the certificate and Mickey ears so it was worth it. We left shortly after this as we noticed that one of our boys was running a fever. By that evening we were at Centracare. We called the resort and they were very helpful setting this up. the next day we spent at the pool and in the room waiting for the antiviotics to kick in. Friday morning we had an ADR at Tusker House for 8am. Our son seemed to be feeling better we all went. We have some really cute pictures of the boys with the characters. We left the park at noon and returned to the room for a nap and swim.

By Saturday, both boys seemed fine. Saturday and Sunday we followed the same routine, went to parks til noon and returned midday for a nap. We went to parks at nightime. Sunday night magic kingdom was dead. It was wonderful. The older children rode the bigger rides with no wait. It was one of the few times one set of our friends actually enjoyed themselves. They didn't do too much while they were there but that is another thread.

Monday morning my other son is sick (surprise, surprise). We had another prescription for him just in case so we got that started. This was the day that our friends all left and we moved to a studio. I called the front desk that morning and explained that I had a sick child. They quickly cleaned 3560 when our friends left and we were able to move right in. This was very helpful. Tuesday morning DH stayed in the room with our sick baby and I took the other child to Magic Kingdom. We had a great time. By that afternoon sick twin was feeling better. We spent a few hours in Epcot and then went to Fort Wilderness for the Trails End buffet. No ADR, no problem. It was good and quick. We will eat here again.

What I learned from this trip? I won't go with a party of 12 again. I will be more selective about who we bring. I will know in advance that they are Disney lovers. I also now know that I really want to stay at VWL again. I know that now that I have children, I no longer want to stay in a studio. So, I guess that means an add on is in our future. Next trip, December in a THV with the in-laws and DH's aunt and uncle. Should be interesting. Thanks for reading!

Wow, you had lots of ups and downs on this trip. I'm glad to hear how much you love VWL, and that the rooms were clean and wowed you, and that they helped you out when you needed some :wizard:pixie dust for your sick child.

I agree about eating at Trail's End. No ADR? not usually a problem, and I enjoy the food too!

I hope you enjoy your treehouse stay as much as we enjoyed ours, and we have another one in October. We're the DGP's so the tree house stay will be with us, DS, DDiL, our 3 DGC and my DSis. DSis hasn't stayed in one yet, the rest of us have, and we can't wait to see her reaction to being in one!
