So I've always been a lurker here and loved reading all of the stories - good and bad. My DF proposed at the Hotel Del Coronado in California last week and we're goign to have a Custom Wedding next fall. We're hopefully looking towards October 16, 08. Am I correct in all of my reading that we can not confirm this date until 8 months out? We're hoping to get Sea Breeze Point in the evening and then head to Epcot for a reception/dessert party. We'd like something a little less formal so figured this would be perfect.

How difficult do you think getting this date will be?

congratulations! I cannot answer any of your questions, but as I am sure you know these ladies here are incredibly helpful and will be able to give you any information that you can think of! Good luck on your wedding planning, it certainly flies by once you start!

Congratulations!! I wish you the very best with all your wedding planning. I, like you were, am not engaged yet but love reading everyone's stories and the girls here are sooo helpful. I'm sure you will get all of your questions answered. BTW I was at the Hotel Del Coronado on Saturday with my BF having dinner!! The location is so beautiful and very romantic  I bet your proposal was beautiful :cloud9:

Congratulations! The Hotel Del is a beautiful place for a proposal - what a great memory that will be!

I believe that non-convention-center locations like Seabreeze Point and EPCOT can be confirmed 12 months out, but if I'm wrong, someone will be along to correct me in a minute... ;)

Congrats on your engagement!!!! :yay: I can't wait to hear details (I always love a good love story!)

It looks like you are planning on having your reception in EPCOT? In which case, I think you can sign the contract 12 months in advance? According to DFTW website: "Twelve (12) months prior to your desired wedding date, we are able to tentatively hold space for your Disney Fairy Tale Wedding. If your events are taking place at a Walt Disney World Theme Park, Ariel’s at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, or Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, then you may sign a contract at this time. All other space may be confirmed exactly eight (8) months prior to your requested date." http://disneyweddings.go.com/site/wed/cus/wed_guide/couple.jsp

Your best bet is to give DFTW a call and have them assign you to a site coordinator, who will be able to give you a definite answer. I heard back the same day from my assigned site coordinator, and she has been AWESOME! The site coordinators are also soooo helpful giving ideas of what to do and budget estimates (for those very detailed brides who can't actually book anything for a while and already started planning a ton, like myself!)

Good luck with everything! Can't wait to hear more as you continue to plan! :bride:

Congrats and welcome to DIS Weddings and Honeymoons!!! These ladies are just wonderful! Happy Planning fellow 2008 bride!

Looks like others have your answers so I just want to say Best Wishes for your upcoming marriage and we look forward to reading all about your planning!

Welcome and congratulations on your engagement! Have fun planning :)

Congrats! That is awesome. My DH and I got married their last July, and it was to my shock too that you can only reserve that day 8 months before hand. ( although I called on the exact date we wanted, just incase they would let me reserve it). Just make sure you call exactly on your date, October 16, right in the am, to be sure you get your day and time. Make sure you keep Floridas weather in mind when you do reserve. We were married at 10 am and the reception went until about 4. We had just gotten checked into our honeymoon suite when the skies opened with the hardest and longest storm I have ever seen in Florida, even the monorail got hit with lightning! I felt so horrible for the 6 o'clock wedding, and when I called my wedding planner the next day, to thank her, she said they had to get every umbrella they owned to get the bride out of the Pavillion. (especially since Sea Breeze is open) But like I said that was in July I am not sure if October would have different weather pattern, But you could always opt to get married in the am, so ensure the weather is beautiful for your pictures then have all your guests meet up later that night for a dessert party at Epcot! Plus it gives you plenty of time to relax and enjoy honeymooning time with your new husband! Also, I felt that I wasnt doing enough planning, so I would often call my wedding planner paniced, and she reassured me that we were all set and everything is on schedule, it was so easy to plan that I was the only thing making it hard! lol. My brother was married their two years ago and it is so beautiful there! But no matter how you plan your wedding, it will turn out beautiful and one of the best days of your life! Happy Planning!:thumbsup2

Congratulations!!! Happy Planning

My Dh and I were married last July at the WP and we had our reception at the GF! And we rode in Cinderellas Coach, it is one of the best things I have ever decided to do. They parade you around the whole hotel for everyone to see! And i really felt like a princess because all the guests were waving at me! It was an awesome experience! You will love it! Are you doing the private portrait session at the Magic Kingdom? That was the second best thing about our whole wedding!

Congrats!! I love Hotel Del and San Diego in general! What a wonderful place for a proposal.

I could be wrong but I thought that SBP could be booked 1 year out.

Have fun planning!

Hi and welcome. Cograts on your engagement.I am a 08 bride too!! I love seeing new ones pop up!!

Congratulations & Welcome! :rotfl:

I'm also getting married in 2008, Happy Planning! You'll find this board very useful

Congrats and welcome to the board!! :goodvibes

Well, I guess it's officially official - I'm going to be a Disney Bride!:cool1: I called DFTW today and set up a site inspection for May when I will be in town with some friends. I hope to get things narrowed down by then, although, I'm already fairly certain that we want SBP.

The reception is where DF and I are having difficulty. I know for a fact I want a viewing of Illuminations. Does anyone know if we can have our whole reception on an outside patio, or do we have to have the reception somewhere else and then move to the viewing location? I'm slowing getting a larger and larger list of questions! And to think I thought I was a Disney know it all!:rotfl: We're not set on having a big sit down plated dinner, so I hope our options are fairly open.

We're also torn on Disney photo or Randy Chapman. I'm leaning towards Randy, as his pictures are all amazing.
