Just wanted to say hello. I have been reading the Disboards since 2003, somewhat compulsively at times. I suspect that I have read many thousands of threads. I am v. appreciative to all that I learned from the Disboards and this information really contributed to Disney trips in Dec 2003, July 2004, and July 2006.

Now, I just had an offer accepted for a resale DVC SSR property. I learned about DVC through the Disboards so I guess that is the expensive side to a Disboards compulsion.:goodvibes. The DVC purchase is only for 175 points, but it should be enough for two trips over the next three years and a bit, and then I can always add on. I look forward to making a first SSR trip in Dec 2008 with two years worth of points.

Anyway, thanks to the Disboards community for all of your valuable information over the last three years. It has been most helpful:)

:welcome: I hope you enjoy your time on the DIS as much as I do! It's obvious that you really are into the "research" aspect of a Disney vacation.:goodvibes

Yes, I like the research :surfweb: aspect of the Disboards. It helps to learn things before you make 'stupid' mistakes. Plus, there is the feel good aspect of knowing what others at disney don't know, feeling like you are getting something extra or feeling like you are getting something something for a bargain (like the time in 2003 when I stayed in a DTD Hilton Concierge King Suite for $25 a night!).

But, perhaps, I enjoy more two other aspects of the Disboards:

1.) The 'dreaming' aspect - It is fun to read about others' experiences, to a degree to live vicariously through what they are enjoying, and to dream for yourself what might be possible in the future. Living in Canada, it may be some time before it is practical for me to travel to Orlando more than about once a year or once every other year. And yet, I can, in some small way, enjoy what other people are doing in Orlando even while living thousands of miles away.

2.) Then, there is the entertainment popcorn:: aspect of the Disboards. Often, there are posts that illicit serious discussion and passion amoung disboard veterans. These are interesting to say the least:thumbsup2 !

For me, the Disboards is one of the more interesting discussion boards going!

Welcome bargain71. I feel funny welcoming someone when I am new myself. However, your post sounds just like me. I lurked for years and gathered so much valuable information and was so grateful for everyones advice and help. I read the boards even though I'm not able to visit WDW more than every 4 or 5 years or so because it is so entertaining, thought provoking and just takes me back to the magic even if I can't visit. So I just had to say Hi and there are others of us out here that have been in a similar, lurking position and it just took awhile to jump into the posting position.
