We will be flying out of Newark in a little over 2 weeks :cool1: .
We are thinking of parking in their long term parking lot. We were considering taking a car service but we are taking a manual wheelchair and will need a van then to get to the airport, and that will be too expensive.
Has anyone had any experience in their long term lot? I also see they have private lots like Vista and Avistar. Are these better than Newarks lot?

Thanks in advance

I have used Avistar 3 times in the past year at Newark (McClellan Ave). Smooth experience each time and considerably cheaper (I think) than long-term parking. I'm doing it again the end of this month for 8 days. My kids love the bumpy ride on the shuttle van.

Which Avistar lot do you use...I see there are 2 located near Newark. I'm currently reserved for Haynes Ave.

Does it matter, is one better than the other....

Anyone with experience at either...THANKS!

We used Newark's LT parking lot at the end of June. $12/day. I was not happy. First, it took us at least 20 minutes to find a spot. Then we waited for a shuttle for about 30 minutes. That went from stop, to stop, to stop. - took us 30 minutes to get to the airport! That extra hour and a half was too long IMO. If I use Newark's LT again I will make sure I budget 2 hours for the whole thing. It could have also been that is was the thursday before 4th of July - so volume was heavier than usual.

WE have used both Haynes Ave and McClellan Street. McClellan Street is closer to the NJ Turnpike exit 13a when going to the airport. For Haynes you have to go north on Rt 1/9, take the Haynes Ave UTurn. DH Likes Haynes Ave because it has easier access to the Turnpike at the end of your trip. I like McClellan because it is closer to NJTPK at the beginning. Both are fine. We have a Corporate Card and get a small discount. Check www.avistarparking.com for current rates and discounts.

Long Term parking is a huge PITA at EWR. (To be fair, all parking at EWR is a PITA). I strongly recommend a drop off or private off-site parking.

Another Avistar-McCellan user here. Very happy with the service. They also offer a discount with AAA. Don't know the % off the top of my head.

We'll be coming in from upstate NY through PA, so the directions I have is from I78E, I would go south on 1&9 to get to the Haynes ave site.

Looks like I"ll be okay, I didn't know if one was further from the aiport, safer etc...

THANKS!

One week to go!

I would go with the off-site lot because you never know if the long term lot will be full when you get to the airport.

We always park in an off-site lot, in Philly. Last month I decided that, since the price isn't that much more, $9 for the long term lot, we would just park there. My DH dropped us off, with the luggage, and parked the car. We checked all the luggage and waited and waited for him to come back. Turns out, the long term lot was full and they were directing everyone to the garage. What the guy neglected to tell everyone was, the garage cost is $17 a day! Imagine my surprise when we left and got hit with an $85 charge for five days of parking!

I will never do that again! The off-site lot we use, Expresspark, has always had great service. I don't know why I even thought about not parking there that trip.

That is why I have just opted to do parknfly rates out of philly at the hotels around the airport. Park, sleep, wakeup call, hop on shuttle, fly out :)

Well I guess we were lucky when we used the long term parking at EWR. It was this past May and we had an early flight on a Sun morning. Maybe that's why we found a spot right when we pulled in! Once we got our luggage and kids together the shuttle was there waiting a few steps away. Only 1 stop was made and we got to the airport in like 20 min. We knew it would take at least that long according to their website. Our car was fine and we left it there for 9 days. I would do it again. We liked having our own car and driving ourselves was no problem. It was also cheaper than having a car service pick us up. Also easier with DS and his own carseat.

My mom also has left her car there with no problems numrous times.
