While I usually stay at a moderate resort, given the two choices above, I'd choose a long stay at a value resort. I sleep and shower in my room, that's about it. I'd rather have many days of fun that just a couple of days and a really nice place to sleep and shower. I guess it depends on what you're getting out of the resort. if you really want to use the amenities and enjoy the resort, you'd need more than a couple of days anyway.

We have always done value or moderate resorts because we have only used the room to sleep and shower. However, after our March trip, we are planning something different for our December trip. In March we stayed at POFQ (which we love) and did four long park days. We orginally had planned to do 5, but by the end of the third day we were so tired that we decided to do one more and leave early (I still can't get over that I would ever agree to leave WDW early:eek:). We realized after that experience that we wanted our next trip to be more relaxing and enjoyable. So for Dec we are staying at our first deluxe resort - WL:Pinkbounc. We will arrive on a Sat afternoon and probably go to DTD. Sun - EPCOT, Mon - resort/relax, Tues - AK, MVMCP, Wed - resort/relax, Thurs - MKam/MGMpm w/ Fantasmic, Fri - resort/relax, Sat - MGMam/MKpm w/ Spectromagic, Sun - home.

I'm still working on that crazy countdown thing:rolleyes: As of 6/16 we have 174 days:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Probably the deluxe. We've done value and felt like we were tripping over each other with 4 people in the room. If you're traveling as a couple rather than a family, I might go the other way (long stay at a value).

Still haven't found a deluxe I prefer over a value, so give me more days at a value!!

I'm going to move this to our resorts board for you.

I love the deluxes and haven't tried a value resort, BUT.... Unless you live close by, there's no excuse for a short stay! Do whatever it takes to allow yourself a long stay.

I say ....a short stay at a value and long stay at a deluxe!!!!! I know those weren't the choices, but I don't know if I can stay more than a few days at a value and I would want to at least have some "time" to spend at my resort, if it were deluxe. We did 3 nights at AKL and it was long enough. 2 would have been too short. Our next few trips will be... 4 nights deluxe, 2- value, 3- value or mod, 3- value or mod, and 4- mod. When I am done with school it will be 7 nights deluxe concierge!

For me it's a no brainer. Longer stay at a value resort.

We bought APs vouchers well before last February trip. So our trip this Feb. is feeling like a "free" trip. All we have to do is pay for the hotel. We have been saving up some money and for a little while thought about a deluxe. But only for a very brief while. When I explained to my wife that if we stay at a value resort she would have a cool grand to spend on souviniers that would have been spent on the resort, she forgot all about the deluxe.

Also, it's just my opinion but the longer stay at the value resort might cost just as much if not more than a short stay at a deluxe in the long run. Between meals, snacks, souviniers and entertainment we probably spend about 200/day, just about the amount you can save from deluxe to value.

250(resort)+200(misc)x 4 nights=1800. vs.
75(resort)+200(misc)x 7 nights = 1925

we have always stayed in value resorts for 20 nights!! at a time. This year we were treating ourselves to the same length of stay at a moderate, (POFQ...you know what happened next!!!..) so now this time we are staying 20 nights at the Poly over xmas!!! I cannot believe my luck, but I also now this will NEVER happen again unless we win the lotto!!!lol :Pinkbounc

But if had to choose because of $$$ then I would have no hesitation in staying at ASMo as someone earlier says it's only a place to put your head down and shower and change. We didn't like the food court at the values so we didn't even eat there!!!!

However I do think our future trips will be Moderates, purely for access to DTD!!!!

I'd choose whichever resort gave me the most days in Disney (unless of course I wasn't planning to go to the parks  ) so my vote goes for more days at a value. I've stayed at value & deluxe Disney resorts & I'd stay value again in a minute if it meant I was able to stay in WDW longer.

First trip 5 years ago stayed at CBR and enjoyed it. Have gone at least once a year, sometimes twice since then and have stayed at one of the All-Stars. Decided to go in October and are trying AKL for the first time. We decided since we were just there in Feb. and stayed at AS Sports and hit all the parks, we would do deluxe and just hit MK and AK. Also doing MNSSHP Oct. 19. We are going to relax more this trip and enjoy the deluxe resort. Arriving on a Friday and leaving on a Tues. want to relax with the kids because on Thurs. DH and I are flying to Vegas for a business trip and thought it would be cool to hang out with kids at AKL and do Halloween party.

I haven't stayed in a value resort but..the longer I stay the better! Go with value, value, value!!
