It was finally here. The date of our one-year anniversary. The day before we had to drive home. Our last day of Disney and the anniversary of one of the happiest days in our lives, all in one. It was a tough balance, but we were up to it.

For our last day, DH let me make all the plans. I decided we would end things up at MGM as that was one of our favorite parks, Friday was part of the Star Wars Weekends and we love Star Wars, and it just felt like a good way to end a wonderful anniversary trip.

We got a wake-up call at 7:15 and I dragged myself out of bed. I wasn't feeling too good myself for a change. I figured it was just the blues mixed with all the activity. DH was still fighting the sinus infection--he'd been on antibiotics for a few days. But we wanted to get to MGM at opening, so we got a move-on.

At MGM, there were Stormtroopers on top of the MGM entrance gates. If you're not a Star Wars fan you can't imagine how fun that is. They had a soundtrack playing of a ship passing over, and the Stormtroopers reacted to it. Very clever. The sky was completely blue and cloudless, and the sight of the Stormtroopers against is was something to remember. Just in case we didn't remember, we took pics.

We were allowed into the park but they held us on Hollywood Blvd. until official opening. after the rope drop, we headed straight to the ToT but it was broken (awwww) so we got fastpasses. We then popped over to RnRC and rode once, awesome as usual.

I had read a lot about WWTBAM so we went by there but it was a 90 minute wait. No thanks! We stopped for pics with some life-size figures of R2D2 and C-3PO, set up for that purpose. For some reason FP wasn't up yet for WWTBAM so we walked over to Star Tours and I got my pic taken with a Tusken Raider, a Stormtrooper, and some other thing, maybe a SandTrooper? One Tusken Raider acted like a tool to my DH when I tried to get a picture of them. My DH laughed about it, but it made me mad.

At this point, we were hungry. How hungry, you ask? Desperately hungry. You will understand the depths of our hunger when I tell you we ate at ABC. I knew better, I did, and I tried to tell DH, but he was too hungry to listen. I had had a terrible lunch there before. And now I'd had a terrible breakfast. I couldn't confine this to the restaurant board, I must tell everyone, everywhere, to stay away!

We wandered around some more, picking up FPs for WWTBAM, and doing a little shopping. We rode Star Tours again, again in the back row. When we came out, Tigger and Eeyore were standing together for pics over near the hat. I hauled as# and was third in line. I love Eeyore. I try not to think about there being a person in there, to me he is just a sad little donkey. The picture is funny--Tigger is VERY careful about his hand placement and of course I look like an idiot--a grown woman with two characters--love it!

Backstage Studio Tour came next--not too many surprises here, but it was fun. WWTBAM was hard, it was all Star Wars trivia. I didn't know the answer to anything, but it came as a relief that I was not as big a nerd as I had always thought. DH knew a lot of answers, but was not a fast finger. The jawa schtick was cute, as I am a big jawa fan. My only disappointment is that I could not find a jawa to take a picture with.

Backtracking across the park, we got on ToT, which is a completely different experience during the day, when you can really see out. We bought our ride pic for this one. I am obviously just having a nice little time, but the expression on DH's face is priceless. He doesn't get scared on rides, just laughs like a goofball and will try any ride, but he looks terrified. So of course we had to get a 5 x 7 and some little ones too.

DH still wanted a pic with Chewie as we had one last time. So we stood in line and I took one of him with Chewie (they were equally tall!) and he took one with me. Chewie let me wrap my arms around his and then really jacked my arms up. His "handler" said, "Now Chewie, we don't need any more of that kind of trouble. Behave!" So I am laughing like a goofus in the picture. DH's is much more mature. At least, as mature as a picture of a grown man with Chewbacca can be.

All our missions accomplished, we stopped for lunch (will have to research that as I forgot to write it down) and shopped on the way out. DH got a large HM attraction poster, and I got a collection of smaller attraction posters. We waited forever for our bus back to TTC, nearly an hour, and some really obnoxious people ran up to the bus and cut in line to get on. They would never have gotten on the bus otherwise, so many of us were in line. Thugs! We went to the TTC to try one last time for my sunglasses, as I had been told they would go there after 24 hours at Epcot. No luck, those sunglasses are gone for good. Oh well, I sent a little gift with them.

We went back to the Swan and rested and showered and changed. Dinner was set at Fulton's in DTD. I chose this place as DH loves crab legs and I wanted to eat on a boat. In hindsight, I would have chosen a later dinner time so it would be dark while we ate. But it was so nice anyway. We got there a bit early, and were given an anniversary card signed by the staff. Nice, huh? We got a great table with a view over the water. Our server was right up there with the best we have ever had, and the crab legs (& everything else) were incredible. Everything about the meal was excellent, so please don't write this place off because you've read some bad reviews. DH & I couldn't make up our minds about dessert, so we ordered three. You know where you can find the reviews, I've said enough.

Coming out of Fulton's, I saw an agreeable-looking lady who was pleased to take an anniversary picture of us. I know it was hard for her, as I was wearing really flat shoes--something I never do. It was a challenge not to cut off the top of DH's head and yet still get mine in the frame, but she pulled it off. I will post some pictures as soon as I figure out how.

After a quick car ride back to the Swan, and a quiet walk around the Boardwalk (saw some fireworks, had no energy for the surrey bikes), we retired to bed.

Next day, I awoke with a fever. I felt terrible. DH's sinus infection had gone into bronchitis. I had to call my nice coworker about something, and she asked my how my pink eye was. I told her it was just now almost better. She said, "Well you know XXX (evil coworker) has been out several days. Turns out she had viral pink eye, not bacterial. So she says you couldn't have gotten it from her as she's been really sick with a fever and chest stuff, and she says you just have pink eye." Uh, yeah.

I was so sad to leave the Swan but due to being sick, I was also really glad to be getting home. So that was the upside to leaving. It was a long, miserable ride home, let me tell you. But we were glad to see our kitties again, and we hope to return someday soon. I have started a giant change jar and am saving for our next trip. I'm thinking we'll stay at the Swan, or the Yacht Club, or the Contemporary Tower (if I can save enough change, that is--it is a big jar!). Whatever we do, I know we'll have fun.

See the photos!
This concludes our Anniversary Trip Report. Thank you for reading.

Ha! I'm honored!!! And thanks for the luck with the change jar. I feed it every day and it looks so empty! It's like 6 gallons, though, so I need to be patient! :goodvibes

I enjoyed reading all of your reports! Gee, I feel for you having pink eye on your trip. I had that once. I caught it from my son and it hurt terribly. :guilty: I couldn't stand any bright lights at all for several days. As a real kicker, my ophthamologist prescribed antibiotic eye drops and it turned out I was allergic to the preservatives in them. Instead of helping, they made it much worse...yuck, took twice as long to get it cleared up. You were a trooper to go ahead & make the best of things. Good luck on getting back to Disney soon! :wizard: :)

Oh, Foxfire!! :grouphug: That sounds miserable! Bright lights were hard, and believe me if I had been anywhere else, it would have brought me to my knees. I think it was pure adrenaline, and the hats. Thanks for reading and for your kind comments! :goodvibes

Thanks for the great reports! Hopefully writing them helped with the withdrawal symptoms. And I agree, the ABC was tres terrible! I'll be looking for your restaurant reviews. :wave2:
