Long johns..

Anyone know of any kind of long johns that are not made out of the "traditional" material but rather fleece or something like that? I need to buy some but the traditional material makes me itchy!

don't know the answer but since it was 34 degrees here this AM
i am guessing it was at least that cold on the lake

I found some at Target that were made of VERY soft cotten. They aren't that traditional itchy material. I found them in the lingerie department.

How about silk? Sooooo nice next to the skin.

Try your department store's lingerie department for cuddle duds. They're very soft cotton and are great.

I was just about to suggest a site called www.Wintersilks.com. I wore silks under my clothes walking around NY in Feb and never felt the wind. Nice and toasty!

I was going to suggest either Silk (Land's End has a good selection) or CuddleDuds, cotton, thin and warm. I can't imagine trying to get regular clothing over fleece. I don't think I have seen any fleece long johns--fleece pj's might work though.

JC Penney has a brand called CuddleDuds. They are a kind of a silk-like fabric. Very thin so layering is nice. Not bulky at all. Wal-Mart, Target and Meijer have their own brand as well.
That's what I wear. The Meijer brand. I LOVE them!

You can buy silk long underwear from Land's End or LL Bean type catalogs as well. Much nicer than those stupid bulky kind of the old days!

Eddie Bauer has silk ones that are very warm and very soft. I think LL Bean has them as well.

I love Hanna Andersson long johns. They're pricey, but they last forever and they are so comfy.

Thanks so much! I thought it was just "wishful thinking" on my part that there might be long johns made of a different material..

I'll be near a Penney's and Target today so I'm going to see what I can find..

When I was pregnant 21 years ago I had my poor father-in-law tearing his hair out of his head as he drove in a 25 mile circle trying to find me a "long john" donut and no one knew what he was talking about! He finally got me the donut. He was a great guy!
