Long Island DVC Store

Has anybody heard anything about the opening of the Roosevelt Field Mall DVC store? Wasn't it supposed to be August 1? I haven't been there for a few weeks, and last time I saw nothing about it. Thanks.

Yeah member services told me its now opening in Sept, no exact date yet that ive heard. at least theres a coming soon note on the mall website finally, but theres no mention of an opening date there either.

That's disappointing. We decided to visit NYC this year for the first time and we planned it so we could see the new store. Oh well, we can certainly find other places to spend our money and will keep addonitis at bay. LOL

This is disappointing news! Once September comes, we are going non-stop until after the holidays! Soccer, school, etc. I was hoping to take a day trip out there this month before school starts! (It's about 2.5 hours from Northern NJ.)

Twentyfive miles sounds correct. But don't forget, there isn't a highway from one to the other; you are going from an urban area (doesn't get more urban than Manhattan) to a suburban area. You can get on the Long Island Railroad at Penn Station, and for $9.25 to $6.75 each way (depending on if peak or off peak travel) and 20 miles in less than 40 minuts, it would get you near Roosevelt Field. You could probably then walk the 1.4 miles or get a cab to the DVC store in Roosevelt field.
To drive from Times Square to Mineola, not during rush hour, Google maps estimates 44 minutes, which I would say is very optimistic.
