Long Flights

Another question somewhat related but the stop over in airports when transferring to another flight what do you do to amuse yourself there? We have a 5 hour wait after our first flight.

Same stuff generally, plus walks around the airport. If we have a layover that long, we usually get a meal. I'm not a fan of airplane food and some airport restaurants are actually pretty nice. Without kids I would probably find a bar if I were not travelling alone.

depends on the airport and what the airport has...
if it's a very long wait, and we're not flying business class, we'll pay for a one time entrance into the business class lounge....much better working conditions for DH (who works 24/7/365)

if it's not too long, then we'll find a place to put all our carry on and take turns walking around the shops (assuming there are any)...
and then just sit and read (while DH works on his phone)

actually, more likely DH will sit with the carry ons and work on his computer and phone, while i walk around the shops and then sit and read

when the kids were younger, we'd almost always pay to go into the lounge...

OMG! i've just this weekend bought a pack of Top Trumps for the flight ...:lmao:

I still love playing Top Trumps. I was a bit miffed this year when my son didn't want to take any with us. I love the Star Wars ones (obviously). We still take dominoes, Uno (Shrek edition we bought in Universal years ago) and pack of playing cards. They are particularly good for airports but have also played waiting for shows like Fantasmic to start.

I'm hoping to play Top Trumps on the flight with my nephew this year :D

Tablet with loads of movies uploaded from my collection, I love old movies, so this is the perfect opportunity to catch up on them, cross stitch, listen to music, eat lots of chocolate buttons (my flight snack of choice) My first trip to Orlando in 1989 was on a RAF DC10 flight, seats facing backwards, just a few audio channels playing on a loop and sandwiches boxes for meals, but, the plane was filled with Navy wives and kids who hadn't seen their Husbands/boyfriends in two months and never dreamed they'd get to Florida so we didn't care as we were all on a huge high. It cost £46 return and some travel warrants, by the way, bargain.

That's such a cute story and so cheap for flights. Wish they were still £46 :lmao:
