Long Fastpass+ lines

In the last week or so, I keep seeing videos of incredibly long fp+ lines at WDW (e.g. dfb twitter feed showing Buzz Lightyear) and I'm wondering how that's even possible. Granted I understand we're talking about one of the busiest days of the year, but still.. Aren't fp+ timed and limited in availability? Is Disney giving out too many of them? What's that I don't understand?

A lot of people we saying the Buzz kept going down so people with FPs were given the Multiple Experience FP that can be used at any time for any attraction. I also read that the pour weather was causing people to want to ride indoor attractions more, so maybe it was raining? which would also lead outdoor attractions to go down more often leading to more Multiple Experience FPs. I wasn't there, this is just what I heard. So while they only originally gave out a certain amount of FPs, there were way more MEFPs.

I’m here now and two rides we had FP for yesterday at Epcot had long FP lines because their FP system was down On test track they got handhelds to scan our bands and then the line moved much faster, but on spaceship earth they were just alternating counting so many people through FP/standby, and had their hands covering the FP scanners. Not sure if this could have been a problem elsewhere or not.

Oh and while in AK, the Expedition Everest FP lime was crazy!! Stretching over the bridge towards Nemo. We rode that single rider in about 20 min. We were told the FP was about 35, but I didn’t ask why so not sure if there was a problem or not.

It’s the busiest week of the year, so you’ve got huge crowds and if rides go down, people are given anytime fp’s, plus I notice lots of first timers over Christmas week bung up fp lines and they don’t even have a fp. They see a line, they get in it. Lol. Then the CM holds up the lines to explain to people why they’re in the wrong line. We often find long lines to tap in, but the lines move faster after that.

At MK yesterday, same.

I want to express Mad Props to the cast members. Who handled it with grace, pressed people through the fast pass side to mitigate added wait. Truly great people, still dancing and good spirits as we left at 2:00 am. They are what Disney’s is about.
