Long Express Pass Lines

Or have a stay more save more type of deal on EP. Where it's expense for one day, but if you're there for a week the price is much more attractive.

Same idea as Disney park tickets. Much better value on the 10 day ticket, but quite pricey for a day or two.

The problem is universal is getting to the point that too many express passes are out there already. You can't have 3 hotels filled with express pass people plus sell express passes and not expect that the lines are going to get too long.

Two of the deluxe hotels cater to conventions.
Not all of those hotel guests go to the parks.

I'm another one that would probably not go to UO if the deluxe hotels no longer offered EPs. We have just become way too spoiled by them, but couldn't stomach paying directly for them (even though I totally understand it's in the high hotel cost).

If the deluxe hotels dropped EP, I'd never stay at one again. I'd have to think about moving off-site or maybe the value resorts and using the savings to buy the EP.

Disney doesn't offer it and the hotel costs are not that much different. I really think that is part of the problem. 2 parks and tons of people jamming express pass lines. The cost of EP really isn't factored in to the hotel all that much as you'd pay the same price at a Disney property without it. You can't pack hotels for two parks with express pass guests and then continue to sell them to other guests and expect that lines won't be long.

I'm sure there are plenty of people staying at the deluxe hotels who are spending less time then they otherwise would at volcano bay because express pass is not offered there. If they can eventually figure that out, that would spread people out more.

While I haven't been to universal in years, I don't think the conventions are factoring into the express pass problem, regardless of what the hotel caters to, there are plenty of people that will book whichever of the 3 hotels has the best rate for when they are going just to get the express passes.

If you compare the EP hotels against Cabana Bay or Saphire Falls the EP benefit definetely costs more.

I think it's problematic to compare Disney and UO hotel prices because they offer different products and have different built in market share. There's no getting around the fact that Disneyworld (just the word) is known worldwide and commands a premium and most people have no idea what UO is or has.

Saphire falls I can't comment on, but Cabana bay is clearly a lower tier hotel. The other 3 Disney would charge the same if not more

That's a drop in price
Have seen it higher before

Went with friends years ago that would buy the unlimited ep
I stayed onsite and they were offsite
Did the parks together and had very few waits

Uo is now selling an unlimited express pass for $250 per person.

That's a combination 1 day park to park ticket with unlimited express. They've always sold these combo tickets. I don't know what the price was in the past.
