Have any of you ever been in a long distance relationship?

I currently live in CT, but I am moving to TX in September. My bf lives in TX right now, but 2 hours away from where I am moving. Yes, we will be living in the same state soon, but I go to a boarding school in CT. So most of the time we will be very far apart. I had been thinking about this for a really long time, like what if he finds someone he likes that is closer to him, so I asked him about it the other night, I wanted to know what he thought about the whole long distance thing while I was at school and he was at school. And he said at the time since my schedual pretty much sucks at school that he would stay up late just to talk to me. But then the next night we were talking and he got mad at me and hung up, and then we kinda got in a fight, but quickly got over it. But he hasn't been the same since he hung up on me. Cuz after that we started talking about the whole long distance thing again, and how we wouldn't be able to see each other again untill December, when go down there for Christmas break. well, the next day I texted him to try and make him feel better, cuz he seemed like he was in a bad mood the night before and I think I just made things worse, cuz I havent talked to him in like 2 days(we have been going out for almost 3 weeks and haven't not talked at night, except when I was on the cruise) and I don't know if I should call him and ask him like whats up with him, or let him call me when he's ready.(btw its really hard for me to not talk to him, it hurts.)

If you have been in a long distance relationship before, did it go welll? did it last long? what do you think of this situation?

please help!! It's killing me!!

we met at a leadership conference in Boston, in July.

They usually don't work, and it's really not worth all the hard work you have to put into it. I'd use that time to find someone close instead of holding on to something that's not going to work out anyway.

the hopeless romantic in me says go for it. But it wont be easy. You both have to be able to seriously put all of yourself into it to make it work. But go for it. If you don't, you'll think about the what ifs for the rest of your life.

I've been in one, I met him in July 2005. I live in NJ and he lives in Texas. I had high hopes in the beginning and everything was going well. After about 6 months, things starting going downhill (cheating, jealousy, seperation, etc). We still claim to be in love with each other, but we aren't "together". We decided that we will try be together when it's possible for us. My advice to you is that it's not impossible and the relationship can be successful. Just try to be realistic. And if it doesn't work out it just wasn't meant to be.

I think that you should try to keep it going, but if you think something is going on, end it before he does. Try to work at it if you really like him, but dont let your feelings blind you at is.

My friend is in one and its going great. Personally for me, I could NEVER do that, I guess thats just how I am. Maybe you could give it a try, and if either of you find its not working, just end it. Good luck with whatever happens. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone, but at the moment he isn't talking to me, so I guess it wasn't ment to be. Maybe when I go down there in December he will be over whatever he is going through now.

I have never been in one but they seem pretty hard n I probally wouldn't do it unless I REALLY loved them. Good luck though n I hope everything works out!!!
