A little background...

Me: 24, vegetarian (I eat seafood and will occasionally succumb to the temptations of chicken and turkey)

DBF: 24, loves chicken and brownies

This was our second trip to Disney and our first time eating on-site. We bought the dining plan because we had a sneaky AAA travel agent that was able to get it at a discount for us. We ended up paying $376 for 7 nights instead of $490. I totalled everything up when we got home and if we had paid out of pocket for all of these meals, we would have spent close to $600.

Pop Food Court - dinner
Maybe we were just overly excited to be at Disney, but we thought the food at Pop was excellent. DBF had the meatball sub (best he's ever had, according to him) and I had the shrimp lo mein. The lo mein was very good, but it wasn't what I was expecting - it wasn't made with soy sauce at all, but instead had kind of a garlicky taste. For dessert, DBF had the brownie (also the best he's ever had) and I had the lunar cheesecake (cheesecake covered in chocolate with mini marshmallows and more chocolate drizzled over the whole thing). We both had all of these items again throughout the week and enjoyed them, although the second time I had the lo mein, it wasn't nearly as good as the first.

Crystal Palace - breakfast
I am a huge Tigger fan, so this was a must-do once I discovered it. We got there a few minutes late for our 8:15am ADR, but we were seated almost immediately. Our server, Josh, wasn't much of a morning person but overall he was fine - checked on us several times to refill juice, and he was helpful in letting us know when the characters were coming by.

We saw Pooh and Piglet within about 3 minutes of being seated. Both were wonderful and gave lots of kisses and hugs and posed for pictures. I was a little nervous about the whole two-adults-and-no-children situation, but it wasn't a problem at all.

Tigger and Eeyore were still on the other side of the restaurant so we took this opportunity to go get some breakfast. I had the puffed french toast (fried bread loaded with cinnamon and sugar - yummy!), croissant, fruit, and cheesy potatoes (delicious). DBF had bacon, eggs, sausage, a biscuit, cheesy potatoes, and a chocolate muffin.

After seeing Eeyore and Tigger, we headed back to the buffet for seconds (and possibly thirds, but who's counting?). I tried the raspberry crumb cake (didn't care for it), banana bread (good, but I was so full I didn't eat much of it), more cheesy potatoes, and a chocolate croissant. DBF had some pancakes, and attempted to make himself an egg and sausage sandwich, but he didn't feel like waiting to use the toaster, so it was mostly yucky.

This was by far our favorite meal of the entire trip and we will definitely be going back next year.

Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station - dinner
I decided that we would eat here because of the interesting selections and good reviews I had read here on the boards. DBF and I both had the shrimp pad thai, even though neither one of us knew what pad thai was. Turns out it was lots of spicy noodles with some kind of nuts, egg and shrimp. We both liked it a lot (and DBF isn't a big fan of spicy), however it made me VERY sick not too long after. However, it should be noted that I have an incredibly weak stomach and get sick from just about, well, all food.

We also both had the chocolate cake - DBF finished his, I only ate the actual cake part because the icing was too sweet for me. The meals come with fortune cookies, so we ate those as well.

DBF had a Sprite that he claimed was "watered-down" (aren't they always?) and I had a jasmine green tea (I wouldn't get it again).

Pop Food Court - breakfast
DBF had the adult breakfast platter, which consists of eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and a mini-biscuit. He thought everything was yummy and finished most of it. I tried the potatoes and biscuit and they were both good.

I had the french toast and didn't care for it. However, I don't like syrup so I ate it plain and perhaps it would have been better with syrup. It came with sausage that I gave to DBF.

We weren't overly educated about the dining plan, so we thought we got dessert with breakfast also. We ended up paying out-of-pocket for a chocolate chip muffin (DBF) and a chocolate croissant (me). These were the first of many purchased throughout the week. I think we probably could have eaten them for every meal and been perfectly content.

Pizzafari - lunch
We ended up eating here because we didn't want to eat breakfast at Pop (we just had a muffin and croissant instead) and wanted to try more restaurants. Well, we made an excellent choice! I had the cheese pizza and apple tart, and DBF had the chicken parm sandwich and chocolate cake. My meal was delicious and DBF liked his also. I had a bite of his sandwich and cake and I thought both were good. The only problem we had here was that we ordered iced teas and didn't bother to read that they were unsweetened. This put DBF in a sour mood despite my attempts to fix them with lots of Splenda. We would definitely eat here again (and order sodas instead).

Boma - dinner
I was super excited about trying this because of the great reviews I've read and the numerous vegetarian offerings they have. I don't think DBF was thrilled, but he agreed to be adventurous and try some new things.
I had the sun-dried tomato hummus and the "chips" that go along with it (wow! so good!), peanut rice, shrimp couscous salad, macaroni and cheese (I couldn't resist), watermelon rind salad, potatoes, and potato soup.

DBF tried the macaroni and cheese, peanut rice, some kind of chicken, and something he thought looked good but didn't bother to read what was in it (turned out to be lamb - we were both grossed out).

I liked everything that I tried, although I couldn't eat large amounts of any of it. DBF didn't care for anything he tried and instead filled up on macaroni and cheese and chicken.

For dessert we both had a zebra dome and failed to see why they are raved about so much. They were ok, but nothing special. We both agreed that the crunchy chocolate cakes (the real name escapes me) were far better. We also both really enjoyed the big cookies.

Chef Mickey's - breakfast
I had read mixed reviews about this place but decided to give it a shot anyway, just for fun. It was fun to try, but I don't think we'd go back.

I had some breakfast potatoes, a Mickey waffle, a chocolate Krispy Kreme donut, some fruit, and hashbrowns.

DBF had pancakes, cereal, eggs, sausage, and bacon.

The food was mediocre, but the characters were so much fun here! We saw Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale and Pluto. Goofy was greeting people in the lobby - he gave me a kiss and then challenged DBF to "fight" - LOL!

San Angel Inn - dinner
This was probably our second favorite meal of the trip. I know there are mixed reviews about it, but we thought it was excellent. The service, however, was as others have reported - not very Disney-like. Our server was polite, but not overly friendly. And, yes, the tables are close together, but we didn't notice a problem with it. We were seated down the stairs to the right (sort of near the bathrooms, which some people may not like).

I had the nachos and DBF had the traditional sope for appetizers. We read the menu quickly and we both thought it said sopa, so we were surprised when DBF didn't get soup (he's Peruvian and speaks/reads Spanish fluently - we just weren't paying attention). My nachos were fabulous! I ordered them without the chorizo, and they were as others have said - mostly cheese. I love cheese, so that was fine with me! I ate the whole thing. DBF really enjoyed the sope as well (turned out to be some kind of chicken dish with refried beans).

I ordered the shrimp pasta dish and DBF had the plato Mexicano. Both were delicious.

For dessert, DBF had the flan (which he said was very good) and I had the bread pudding (because there was nothing else that looked appetizing and I figured I'd try something new). It was ok, but I definitely wouldn't order it again. I took a bit of the flan and didn't like that either, but I never have whenever I've tried it (the texture grosses me out). The dessert menu here was definitely lacking - I think there were only 3 choices total.

Kona Cafe - breakfast
We went here so that I could try the tonga toast. Well, I tried it and I didn't really like it. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. It was mostly a big chunk of fried bread covered in sugar (yum!), and there were a couple pieces of banana shoved inside at the bottom. The bananas were suspicious-looking (mostly dark and not very banana-y) so I didn't really eat much of them.
DBF had the big kahuna and thought it was fine. It was eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast, and a piece of pineapple.

We both had the fresh fruit cup as an appetizer. They should really rename this to "fresh melon cup" because that's all it was: melon chunks, with one piece of pineapple and one grape per cup. That being said, it was fresh and good, just not what we were expecting.

Pop Food Court - dinner
I had the shrimp lo mein again and DBF had the chicken alfredo. I snuck a bite of his chicken and it was soooo good! My lo mein was ok, but nothing compared to the first night. I had carrot cake for dessert and DBF had a brownie. The carrot cake was very good, but far too rich to eat more than 3 bites of it. DBF devoured his brownie.

50s Prime Time Cafe - dinner
I was nervous about this meal because I'm very shy, but I decided to give it a try because it sounded like so much fun. Our server, Cousin Syndi, was perfect - she was in character without being too over the top. She referred to DBF as "Scooter" and made him set the table for us. She then introduced us to our cousins from England, Arizona, and New Jersey.

I had the onion rings and DBF had the chicken noodle soup for appetizers. Both were excellent. I had the shrimp primavera and DBF had the meatloaf for dinner. He thought the meatloaf was slightly undercooked so it made him a little nervous, but he still ate all of it. My food was good, but there was so much of it! Plus, DBF hates vegetables so I ate his green beans for him, knowing that he may have some problems if he left them on his plate. He saw the lady at the next table get airplane-fed and didn't want to go through the same thing. So, I took one for the team and ended up not being able to clean my plate. While Cousin Syndi paraded around the place with DBF's spotless plate, telling everyone what a great kid he was, I sat there dreading what she was going to do to me.

She sat down next to me and discussed the situation with the cousins from England. She decided that since I'm such a "petite little flower" and that I probably wanted dessert, she would let it slide this time. The cousins agreed this was a good idea, so THANK YOU if you are those lovely people.

DBF had dad's super sundae and I had the s'mores for dessert. I knew that this was way too much food, but there was no way I was going to let the dining plan go to waste. Both were excellent and we even managed to finish most of them.

If we go back here, we'd probably split a meal because the portions are HUGE.

Pop Food Court - lunch
I had the chicken alfredo (I couldn't help myself! The bite I had from DBF's the other night was so good that I needed to order it!) and DBF had another meatball sub. I had another lunar cheesecake and DBF had surprise! another brownie. Everything was wonderful.

1900 Park Fare - dinner
I planned this dinner purely for characters - mainly for Cinderella and Prince Charming. Well, the Prince was nowhere to be found and Princess Aurora was there in his place. We had met her previously in Toon Town, so we weren't impressed.

We also weren't very hungry due to the large lunch we had earlier, but we filled our plates nonetheless. I tried the three-cheese pasta, shrimp alfredo, tomato florentine soup, and a piece of pizza. DBF had the same pastas, a piece of pizza, and some chicken. All of it was ok, but nothing special. Everything was cold. For dessert I had the cheesecake and sugar cookies - both were very good. DBF had a sugar cookie and some gummi bears from the ice cream sundae station. They were also good.

Our server was wonderful and allowed us to order a smoothie each as a "dessert" even though we shouldn't have been able to. I got a berry one that was delicious and DBF got some kind of pina colada one that I also thought was delicious. He didn't drink much of it because he was so full.

We felt very rushed here, even though our server said he wasn't trying to kick us out. He asked for our card and brought the bill before we even finished one plate of food. Overall, we weren't impressed and would not go back here unless we had kids that were desperate to meet Cinderella and there was no other way to make that happen.

Pop Food Court - breakfast
I had the chocolate chip pancakes (with sausage that was given to DBF) and DBF had the breakfast wrap, which is essentially the same thing as the adult breakfast platter, except in wrap form. Eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, biscuit. My pancakes were ok (again, no syrup was probably a mistake) and DBF's food was good. Chocolate chip muffin and chocolate croissant for dessert. Yum!

Miscellaneous
Refillable mugs are such a good idea. We didn't use ours as much as we should have, mostly because we're lazy and forgetful. The one night I really appreciated it was when we went to watch Fantasmic. We filled it up with some steaming hot chocolate and brought it with us for while we were waiting for the show to start. This worked out splendidly, until the show was over and I forgot there was still some hot chocolate in the mug. I was swinging it around all night as were were walking around looking at the Osbourne lights, and then finally noticed on our way out that I had chocolate all over my jeans, my hand, my jacket, everything. Not to mention the numerous innocent people I probably doused with it during our adventures. Luckily it wasn't hot anymore at that point.

Mickey ice cream bars are heavenly. As are the Mickey-shaped ice cream sandwiches. The itzakadoozie ice pops, you ask? Not so great. They sucker you in with their pretty colors, but there's really nothing to them.

Cream puffs in the bakery in France are quite possibly the best thing ever, next to Pop's chocolate croissants, of course. DBF did not really like the cake of the day (chocolate cake with raspberry filling), but he doesn't like fruit in cake at all, so his rating is not accurate. I thought it was quite good and I'm not a big fan of chocolate cake, so there.

Dole whips (which are actually "pineapple floats") are SCRUMPTIOUS. DBF and I shared one the first day there, but I got my own when we went back to MK. Well, I let him have a few bites, but mostly it was mine.

Frozen strawberry margaritas in Epcot = yummmmmy. I'm not a big drinker at all, so it was a little strong for my taste, but that didn't stop me from finishing it!

Mickey rice krispy treats from Goofy's in Downtown Disney... we made one that was dipped in milk chocolate and then coated with crushed reese's peanut butter cups and drizzled with caramel. The lady made a face when she looked at our paper, but let me tell you, you HAVE to try one. We ended up going back just before we left to pick up another for the ride home!

Thanks for sharing! And for what it's worth, I think your Mickey rice krispy treats sounded pretty yummy! ::MickeyMo

Thanks for the reviews and for the heads-up on the Kona fruit cup. The only kind of fruit I don't like is melon so now I know to stay away from ordering that!

Great reviews, thanks for sharing.

Have to agree with the BF about the meatball subs at the POP. The sweetpea loved hers. Almost as much as the one at Earl's.

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

Thanks for the reviews. As a vegetarian, I really want to try Boma, but I don't think my family would like it. Maybe I'll just send them to Shula's (they'd be in heaven) and go to Boma solo. :)

Boma is a vegetarian's heaven... there is just so much to eat! There's a lot of chicken and pork, too, for the meat eaters so you might be able to convince them :)

We eat at Boma all the time and I cannot for the life of me figure out what the crunchy chocolate cake is...it's driving me nuts :rotfl:
Did you try the brownies there? They are yummy!!

LOVE puffed French toast too :)

I don't remember seeing any brownies there, but I also had a horrible fever and wasn't feeling well so I might have missed them.

I just really enjoyed your reviews. DH and I are both somewhat squeamish about certain foods, and sometimes I feel like we are real "hicks from TN" that we do not eat lamb, veal, etc. It is nice to read someone's report who eats like us.

I had to laugh about the ice tea. DH has a hard time at WDW because he only drinks sweet tea and Dr. Pepper - neither of which can be found anywhere. I did not bother to tell him this until we were there for fear he would back out, and I make sure to take can Dr. P for the room.

Ok, I know you are a vegetarian, but since you said you will sometimes try chicken -please try the Mom's Night Out Special at Pop next time for the fried chicken. It is just yummy! The green beans and mashed potatoes are excellent as well. 50's Prime Time has some good fried chicken, too.

Again, really enjoyed the reviews.

Thanks for posting your reviews! My husband and I are looking forward to staying at POP for the first time in March. Now we have an idea about what we want to eat. Thanks! :teeth:

I enjoyed your reviews! Thanks! :sunny:

Thanks for the reviews, especially for the Pop food court. My sister and I will be there soon and I tend to not like food court cuisine. I am certain that we will love the Lunar Cheesecake!

Did you actually make your own Rice Krispy Treat? Yours sounded heavenly and sinful in one bite. Take me to the treats!

Great reviews, thanks for posting. DH and I also love the food court at POP. And thanks to the dining plan, I guess we'll be sampling many yummy desserts there too! :flower:

They have an area in the middle of the store where you can fill out this little card of what you want...

You can start with a cookie, rice krispy treat, pretzel rods, marshmallows, and some other things.

Then you choose what you want it dipped in: milk chocolate, white chocolate, mint chocolate.

Then what you want on it: crushed reeses, m&m's, nuts, etc. All kinds of yummy candy.

Then you can choose to have more chocolate or caramel drizzled on top.

You hand the card to the person behind the counter and they make it for you. You can watch them do it and then when it's ready they call out your name. So much fun!
