Long Beach Airport?

My best flight times and prices for October seem to be flying to Long Beach. I've never flown there before. How long is it from there to the Disneyland area (PPI)? Is a shuttle our best option about 10 p.m. or would a taxi be faster? I'm willing to pay more if we might have to wait an hour for a shuttle.

It is a 15 minute drive without traffic; however, with traffic it can take 45 minutes, but chances are closer to 20-30 minutes, depending on time of day.

Most Cabs offer flat rates to Disneyland from LGB, just make sure you ask for it, otherwise it is expensive. Depending on your party size, you might want to talk with others on your flight to see if they would like to share one of the larger Van taxis, as the flat rate is for all people, not per person. By doing this, it might be cheaper than a shuttle, of course depending on the number of people, it might be cheaper to take a Taxi anyway.

However, due to how few flights come in, Shuttle will usually be scheduled to leave shortly after a flight comes in.

I do have a warning though, once you fly into Long Beach, you may never want to fly into a different airport again, as you will find it is a very convient airport, especially when leaving and going through security (usually takes about 5 minutes or so), you only ned to show up at the designated time to give the airport time to load your luggage onto the plane.

Long Beach is very convenient to Disneyland resort.

I personally think it's about the quickest one to DL, depending on traffic, as it's pretty rare that the traffic is bad between the two points.

30-45 minutes should do it under normal circumstances.

Depending on the size of the group, a taxi is probably the cheapest and fastest way to go. On a shuttle, you pay per person, and when you hit about three people, the taxi is definitely cheaper, I think the flat rate is $45 from LGB to DR.

DH and I live in Long Beach and we are D-land APs. We've flown in and out of LB Airport several times, and we love it because it's a smaller airport. As an airport experience, it's great, but I'm not sure how it would work out as far as getting to D-land. It is about 30-35 minutes to drive to the park from the airport (without any traffic), but it is actually much closer to D-land than LAX. LB airport is closest to the 405 freeway, but that isn't really the most direct route to D-land. However, the route won't matter as much if you're not the one doing the driving. I'm not sure about shuttle vs. taxi. The big difference between LB and LAX (or even John Wayne/Orange County airport) is size. There just won't be quite as many readily-available transportation services at LB Airport. Other than that, I think you will find it's a great airport to fly into.

15 minutes....seriously??? dude!! how fast are you driving????:lmao: my daughter lives in Long Beach and on a really good day it takes us 25 min. and trust me thats going 70-75...

We love, love, LOVE this airport! So small and easy compared to LAX. Unfortunately we won't be able to use it this time :-(

I'd say Taxi is your best bet at that time of day. The flat rate was $45 the last time we were there. Like the PP said, be sure to ask for the flat rate or they will charge you more.

Are there any good options if you are a party of one...? I might even consider public transportation if it will be $35 each way!

Thanks for your help everyone! I bought my tickets and saved $250 versus flying to LAX or Orange County!

oh public transportation will be ALOT less...like around $5 each way...problem is that it is time consuming...you would have to take the regular bus to the octabus and then change again to another octabus...total trip would be about 1 1/2 hours...if that doesnt bother you then I would say go for it...you also could possibly take a taxi from airport to the 2nd octabus station...granted it would cost a little more but still Im sure it would be under $35 easy...heres a link to the long beach transit ...click on the link then look at the very top right to plan your trip...

also, the cheapest transportation via shuttle i found was through a company called sav-on shuttle and they charge $43 each way...heres the link as well:

Thank you! Looking it over now - I take the train to work daily here so I am no stranger to the fun of public transit. ;) Just sad there is no option like supershuttle from there, I hadn't even considered there wouldn't be until now since everyone here says to go to that one!

there are supershuttle services and many of them but they are $100 or more RT...which is why i posted the cheapest one i found being $43 ea way with Sav-On....

I'm confused. There is "supershuttle" but it's $35. That's a private company.

I'm not aware of any public transit anywhere in the Los Angeles airports that offers direct "shuttle" type service from the airport directly to the Disneyland Resort area, without stops along the way. If such a thing existed, i.e. private type door to door shuttle service, at subsidized public transportation type prices, well, we'd all be riding it.

however, that supershuttle only drops off at the 3 DL hotels and its a good deal but if you are staying somewhere else then what??? also the price i quoted for Sav-On was for 2 people so i think it may be close to the same price supershuttle is and they drop off at all different locations in anaheim

Do you drive a lot of side streets before you get to the freeway? That might account for some of the time.

We aren't to far from the 405 at Crenshaw (in Torrance) and on a weekend morning it is 30 minutes (our garage to parking garage). And that is taking the 405/110/91/5 route. So yeah, I could see 15 minutes from the closest part of Long Beach to DLR. Although I would think from the airport, you need to add in a few more minutes to get to the 91, if you go that way.

Of course, on a Friday after work, our 30 minutes goes to 1 hour, so all bets are off, LOL.

I suppose if you were staying close to one of the hotels and didn't have a lot of luggage you could take the supershuttle and walk. That may be what we do.

actually no, we only have to take the 22 fwy straight into anaheim...and from the house to the fwy is about 4 or 5 min at the most...but yeah fridays?? anything after 11am i dont even bother lol

We're going in Oct, flying into Long Beach also because of the crazy high prices that Alaska has advertised right now (flying from seattle to orange county is $189.00 one way per person :scared1::scared1::scared:) We decided to check out another airline (Jet Blue) and it ended up being $90 each way per person and then on the way back it was $109pp. Way cheaper flying into Long beach and flying Jet Blue then into Orange county on Alaska airlines. I love Long beach because it's a very simple airport and quick to get in and out of and as a previous poster said, it literally only takes 5 minutes to go through security. Looking forward to flying in and out of this airport in Oct. Less stress = better vacation. Hope you have a fun trip! :)

I too have been looking at flights on Alaska into SNA from Seattle, and it's up there. Think we might fly into Orange County and out of LGB. Never gone through LGB, but I hear great things.

i just wanted to let all of you know that the Anaheim/OC visitor website offers coupons for several of the shuttle services from LB to anaheim...my friend and her husband are going to use supershuttle and are paying $72 RT which is a steal...here is the link:

http://anaheimoc.org/coupons?coupon_category=279&homepage=

i think some of them are getting ready to expire, however, they update regularly:goodvibes

Jet Blue and LGB are the way to go
Even if it costs slightly more (which it almost never does) I'll do it.

It's so much nicer, less stressful, and more convenient than LAX or SNA
