So..Jetblue informed us today they will not be flying directly into LAX from Boston in Oct so they switched us over to Long Beach Airport...is this an easy one to get to from DL? We will need to get transportation via Disney or otherwise, but i just wondering how it compared to LAX. One bonus thing is our flight got changed from 2 pm to 8 45 pm ..so we get a whole "free" dl day! :)

Long Beach airport is small (probably the smallest in the Los Angeles area) but easy to get in and out of. It is also closer to Disneyland too but I don't know about transportation to and from Disneyland, you might have to rent a car. Have a great time!

Long Beach is a great airport although very small. It is only about a 20 min. drive to DL compared to 40-60+ min from LAX. Rental cars are across from the airport and taxis are around $50 one way to DL. I don't know what shuttles run. We definately preferred Long Beach over LAX.

I love flying in and out of Long Beach. You feel like you have blasted into the past. It is definately a lot closer than LAX is.

I prefer flying into Long Beach, it is much closer to DL than LAX. It is so small that you can get out of there probably within 10 minutes. The car rentals and taxis are across the street (a very small street!) I am also wondering which transportation to take to get to DL, I don't know whether it is cheaper to take a flat rate taxi or a price per person shuttle.

whew! you have all made me feel much better about this non planned change! Luckily i have friends that will be picking us up when we get to Cali..( we are staying in L.A. for 5 nights before we hit the LAND) so we just need to worry about getting to the airport from the GC..sounds pretty easy though:)

Another vote for Long Beach, I'd fly into there any day over LAX! Such an easy drive to DLR, last month I had pre arranged for a driver (recommended from a fellow DISer) to drive us to our hotel and pick us up for our return flight.

I just flew into Long Beach on Jet Blue last weekend. I love that little airport! Our taxi was $40.00 from the airport to our hotel and $55.00 for the trip back to the airport. You'll be happy they change airports on you!

We're flying into Long Beach, too. My DH usually flies in there for business trips several times a year, and he likes it.

Super Shuttle runs out of Long Beach; Lorealle at HoJo's says they're very reliable. We're taking it in Oct. It's costing us $42 (or maybe it's 47) for both of us, each way.

Hope that helps!

JetBlue has never flown into LAX as Long Beach is their main airport out here. The only "large" airport they fly into out in LA/OC is Ontario but there is no direct flight from Boston. Both are "convenient" to OC. I flew out of Long Beach a few times on another airline to Seattle and LOVE it. Parking was easy, boarding was easy even with an infant and toddler. The only time I fly out of LAX is if I really have to or if there's a deal I can't pass up compared to the other airports.

This is the only airport we will fly into now. We are so spoiled. We love JetBlue and always find good deals with them. Have a great time.

We've been going back and forth between renting from Enterprise or using Primetime Shuttle. Is it easy to get to Enterprise from LBG or do you have to take a shuttle over? Also, would it make more sense for one of us to get the car and come back to the airport to pick us and the luggage up.

I'm not sure about Enterprise, but I know most of the car rental companies have a counter at the airport. You walk out the front of the aiport and cross the "street". Its not really a street, its the car driving through the drop off area. The all share one long counter in a tiny little building. The cars are right there in the parking lot. You'll be shocked when you see how small and easy it all is. Bags are claimed out side, under a covered area. I usually send dh and the kids to watch for the bags and I run over and start the car paperwork. Dh and the kids usually have the bags before I have the car.

This is all such good feedback..Thanks a MILLION! :) I hope this answers others questions as well!

Thank you so much for all this information. I wasn't sure we made the right decision flying into LBG instead of LAX but now I'm so happy with our choice. I'm thrilled that it's such a small airport. I was dreading dealing with the bags (we're also packing for a 15 nt Magic cruise) and the rental car. One less thing to stress about.
