I see there are separate threads for LAX and SNA. Didn't see one for LGB.

Any recent recommendations?

We will be a party of 6. Karmel has quoted me $236 round trip, before tip. Midwilshuttle gave me a quote for $250 round trip, before tip. Lansky's website quotes $205 round trip, before tip. I had it in my mind that Lansky was more expensive than the shuttles. Has anyone used Lansky from/back to LGB?

Get Away Today lists Karmel vouchers for $78 one way, 4-6 passenger van. This is so far off from the Karmel direct pricing. I am wondering if the GAT prices are outdated or something. I am waiting to hear back from them.

We're also a party of 6 and will be flying into LGB in November. Thinking of one of those options for us too, but have only done Taxi or Lyft in the past with 4 of us. This time we need something bigger for all 6 of us and luggage.

Taxis come in different sizes and they will find one big enough for you (flat rate..... $45 ?). We have also checked with the shuttles and have gotten ones right there for a good flat rate as well, and they took us (2) right away.... no waiting around for more passengers. some of these shuttles are there for scheduled pickups and some hang around for passengers.... ask. they are right across the street as well (at the rental car lot.)

Another vote: Mini-van taxi all the way... same flat rate as a sedan or Prius taxi.

The challenge will be getting back to the airport. They are not staging taxis around the DL Resort currently. I don't think there are enough drivers or demand just yet. So that may (hopefully) change. We called the number on the flat rate voucher and requested a pickup with the automated system. After 15 minutes we called back and the system "had not yet located a driver".

I went to Lyft and found a nearby XL (ONLY one nearby), so we just ordered it and cancelled the taxi. We are a family of 5 and, as I feared, the Lyft XL was a small SUV with a 3rd row. It was extremely tight and the driver nearly turned us down as they are not supposed to use the front seat currently. I had to dangle a big tip as we were getting tight on time.

So our recent experience:
Taxi airport to resort = easiest and low cost difference, if any. May even be cheaper if surge pricing in effect.
Return taxi to airport = big question mark (currently).

Plan ahead and get car service back to airport, order taxi way ahead, or be prepared to take two Uber/Lyft for a party of 6.

Ask the taxi driver if he can schedule a pick-up for the way back to LGB. Many of them will do that and take your name, etc. and you can get the driver's name and number to confirm.

Wow, do let us know what they say. That is a great price for Karmel with the voucher. We will only need one way to SNA from our Harbor hotel.

No word back yet, but the GAT website lists one way Karmel vouchers from SNA to DLR for $62 (1-3 passenger van), $70 (4-6 passenger van) and $78 (7-8 passenger van). All are private vans.

We use Get Away Today often and those prices are legit. I have Karmel shuttle vouchers to/from Long Beach purchased for our November trip from them. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Go for it!

Thank you! That is crazy how different the prices are. I had wondered if they were outdated since GAT lists a 4-6 passenger van as $78 next to $85 crossed out. As if the current Karmel price is $85. But that isn't the current Karmel price, and Karmel doesn't have a 4-6 passenger van listing.

I have emailed GAT twice in the past week and have never received a response. Do you know what the normal timeframe is for them to get back to you with info?

I'd recommend calling them- I've never used email to get in touch with them. Their number is 1-855-GET-AWAY.

I've used Karmel Shuttle in the past from them before and I usually had to call to make my reservation with a voucher so never really paid attention to what's on their website.

Pre-covid all their vans fit up to 6 passengers so I'm sure they still have them. The 1-3 passenger is probably a car or something smaller. That's what I booked for November so guess I'll find out!

Thanks for the info. So you purchase the voucher from GAT then book directly with Karmel?

I have used Karmel once from LGB to DLR. That was in Jan 2020. I remember checking the GAT price and it was only a $2 or $3 difference from booking with Karmel direct, so I decided to skip GAT that time. It was just me as the lone passenger in a shared van but it was a great experience all around.

Yup, they give you a voucher number and then you book with Karmel. Pre-covid they had a deal where kids rode free so at that time I saved a bunch since it was just me and my son using it. I'm sure their prices are accurate on the website tho- it was for the 1-3 passenger one.

Just heard back from GAT. The guy confirmed that the rates listed on their website are indeed their current contracted rates, lots of customers have used these vouchers, followed with a "you will not run into any issues with reservations." That's great news! This is also in line with the personal experiences @TikiTikiFan has shared.

We are flying in on Christmas Day. We have six people, so an Uber isn't really ever an option but especially on a holiday. Do you think we would have trouble getting a taxi that day as well? I like the idea of calling ahead and scheduling with a driver but that could also be trickier on Christmas Day...

We are a party of 7... 4 adults and 3 littles we need 1 booster seat and 2 car seats.... Any suggestions?? Last time we flew we only had our granddaughter so we checked the car seat and uber'd. Now that we have the twins in the family its a hole new experience traveling with 7! Not enough hands to handle the luggage, stroller and car seats and kids :)

Karmel has a private van service for 7-8 people from LGB; you can get a voucher for it for $90 each way at GetAwayToday. Don’t know about car seats, though.

We live right by the airport, Lyft XL is $41.97, but it does say only 5 people. Another option would be taking two smaller Lyfts at about $28 each.

Another choice is public transit, it is about a 30 minute trip and is $2.50 per person.
