17 Days Until Our Adventure Begins

I have been so focused on getting work done and getting the kids ready for school that I feel behind getting ready. Normally I would have dragged out half of my closet for packing preparation by now. Fortunately, I will have a solid week to get things done once they are in school. My brain must know it's coming soon though because the weird dreams have started. Last night, it was me trying to convince a ticket agent that I was supposed to be going to London and not on a Disney cruise. I kept telling her that I was supposed to get on a plane not a boat. It didn't help that she only spoke French and I couldn't understand her. This is what happens when you fall asleep listening to a language CD.

Well, the good news is that when I saw what you were wearing, I knew it was a costume. ;)
When I saw Mike's shirt, I thought, "Hmm, I didn't realize they made clothing out of wrapping paper..."

As for the other photo I've seen, I threw up in my mouth a little. :crazy2:
It was just as nasty as it was the first time he posted it.

I just wanted to pop over and say how excited I am for you guys. I took a trip to London, Paris, and a few other major European cities my senior year in high school, and it was absolutely amazing. Westminster Abbey was my all-time favorite thanks to the monuments they have dedicated to some of the best writers of all time. Make sure to spend time looking at them. They are just amazing!

I am so envious of all you will get to see and do! Enjoy every second of it!!!

Oh, and did I mention you'll be in DLP on my birthday? :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Did ya know that there is a Disney Store on the Champs-Élysées;

Plus all of the rest .......The avenue is also one of the most famous streets in the world for upscale shopping. Adidas, Benetton, the Disney Store, Nike, Zara, Cartier, Bel Air Fashion, Toyota, continental Europe's largest Gap, and Sephora occupy major spaces.[3] Traditionally home to popular brands, as well as luxury brands Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, Lancel, Guerlain, Lacoste,Hôtel de la Païva,Élysée Palace and Fouquet's, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées confirms its world-class appeal as a prime real estate location: it has lately seen the opening of new big upscale shops such as the biggest Adidas store in the world.
Just like HOME !!:rotfl: ..can't wait !!
Now I love a good Disney Store - but I don't think I have ever heard of it referred to as upscale shopping :confused3 but I could be wrong :rolleyes1
The Disney Store ...or ...Cartier...how will I ever be able to choose !!:sad2:such decisions !!:rotfl2:

On flight to Kansas City. Am I really prepared to be in one of these steerage seats for 8/9 hours in a couple of weeks? :confused3. I'll make it through but I'm so dreading that flight!

Chances are pretty good your seat will not be as bad. They tend to use the large, wide-bodied planes for international flights, and they aren't *quite* as "steerage" as the planes that are used domestically. Just be sure to get up every hour or so and walk around for 5 minutes. Good for the prevention of blood clots. My flight last year to Madrid was not nearly as horrendous as I'd thought it would be. I'm hoping & praying the same will be true for my flight to London!

16th arrondissement of Paris

"The 16th arrondissement of Paris (also known as "Arrondissement de Passy") is one of the 20 arrondissements (administrative districts) of Paris, the capital city of France. It includes a concentration of museums between the Place du Trocadero and the Place d'Iéna.

Situated on the right bank of the River Seine, this arrondissement—which includes the mainly residential districts of Auteuil and Passy -- is home to a large number of diplomatic embassies and is also the location of the famous Avenue Foch, the widest street in Paris and home to many of the City's wealthy foreign residents.

With its ornate 19th century buildings, large avenues, prestigious schools and museums and various parks, the arrondissement has long been known as one of French high society's favorite places of residence (comparable to New York's Upper East Side or Los Angeles's Beverly Hills)[2] to such an extent that the phrase "le 16e" has been associated with great wealth in French popular culture. Indeed, the 16th arrondissement is France's 4th richest district for average household income, only fourth to the 8th, 7th and 6th arrondissements; with Neuilly-sur-Seine, they are collectively referred to as Paris Ouest: the most affluent and prestigious residential area in France.

The 16th arrondissement hosts several large sporting venues, including: the Parc des Princes, which is the stadium where Paris Saint-Germain football club plays its home matches; Roland Garros Stadium, where the French Open tennis championships are held; and Stade Jean-Bouin, home to the Stade Français rugby union club. The Bois de Boulogne, the second-largest public park in Paris (behind only the Bois de Vincennes), is also located in this arrondissement.'

Im hoping to make the best of it...

So I had a "fun" day yesterday! I've been having issues with my left ankle for a while, and last time I went to my doctor, I mentioned it (again). He sent me for an X-ray, and they said there was an old chip & old fracture! So my doc sent me to an orthopedist last Wednesday. He took his own X-rays, and said he couldn't see a chip or a fracture  but it was obvious the ligaments & tendons are screwed up (I can still walk just fine, but it's sore and sometimes a bit weak). So he set me up for physical therapy, and put me in an ankle brace. I don't have to wear it all the time, but I wore it while walking, since I do a lot of that.

Well, it just didn't feel right. For those who don't know, I had a blood clot in my left leg 2 1/2 years ago, that started in my left foot. I called my vascular doctor to get her opinion on my wearing the brace, and her nurse was like "Do I think you're at risk, with your history? Yes! You need to come in & see the doctor."

I went to the doctor yesterday, and she was a bit put off by how non-specific the orthopedist was about when I needed to wear the brace ("So, you don't need to have it immobilized all the time?") and was far more concerned about me having indeterminate issues with the foot and planning to fly to Europe in less than 2 weeks. She decided to do a doppler ultrasound of the leg, to rule out the possibility of another clot causing the issues (the leg was clot free 9 months after the clot was found!) If it was a clot, she was going to put me back on a full regimen of blood thinners (coumadin). If it wasn't, she was going to give me Lovenox (a milder, prophylactic blood thinner) for the flights & the Chunnel trip. Oh, and she nixed the brace. I've got a super-duper ACE bandage wrapped around it (not as well as when she did it!) and the extra support does help!

Good news is, the leg is clot-free! YAY! So no coumadin. But I *will* be bringing 4 doses of Lovenox with me. I hope the pharmacy has some sort of travel case for them. I think most airport restrooms I've been in have had sharps disposal containers.

Anywhoo, that's the story of my fun day! Taking such a long flight, it *is* nice to know I'm not starting out with a clot, and I'll be up & walking around frequently throughout the flight. Plus the extra help of the Lovenox. I'm not thrilled about having to inject myself :sad2: but I'll get over that. I did before. :confused3

Such fun!

Whew! SO glad there is no clot!:banana::banana: How often do you have to take the Lovenox?

We are use to injections in our house. I'm more comfortable with Michael giving me shots than I am any nurse. :rotfl:

Thanks, Cynthia. I'm really glad there's no clot, too! I just need to take the Lovenox before each of the long legs of the trip (it lasts for 24 hours, basically). So one shot before I get on the plane to London, one shot before we get on the Eurostar to Paris, and one shot before I get on the plane to fly home from Paris. And an extra one for just in case.

In my house, it's either me giving me the injection or no-one! :goodvibes
