London Hotels - Family of 4

It was heathrowshuttle.com. The price was good, but now that the trip is over I would not recommend them. We had to be picked up in a different terminal than we arrived at and it took forever to get there. The driver had to pick up another set of people so we got to sit in the van for about an hour while he found them. Then the driver proceeded to tell us all about how much he hated the company and it was his last day there. We did make it to the hotel safe and sound but it was about 2.5 hours after we landed.

As long as you can manage your own luggage (including stairs), it's quite easy to take the Tube or the train to London and then connect by tube. I have also booked a private transfer on viator.com for my elderly mother, who was meeting us 2 days later, and it worked out fine and was not too expensive.

Thanks! Don't think I want to deal with all of our luggage (17 nights) on the Tube or train, though.

I agree, we spent a week in London before our Med cruise in a Premiere Inn. It's nothing fancy but very clean, reasonable, and does have rooms for 4. We stayed at the Waterloo/Westminster Bridge location which had just opened. The room was tiny by US standards but the location was unbeatable for touring and we could see Big Ben from our window...kind of amazing for the price! The size was not an issue for us since we literally just slept there.

Happy cruising!
I have this hotel booked for our British Isle cruise next year. Did you do their breakfast or dinner option?

A lot of cruisers are staying in the Waterloo area, the premier inn there for an example, other areas like Bayswater, Kensington are good.

Beware we have a lot of construction in London at this time.

Crossrail
Avoid staying at Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham court road.

Others

Avoid using and staying at London Bridge, and avoid staying directly near Victoria.

I was considering staying near Victoria because the tour I'm booking departs from the Victoria coach and I also want to get tickets for Wicked. If I need to travel to these parts, what is the best means of transportation to avoid issues? Are the issues only with the tube? Thanks!

Trains and tubes are fine. Victoria tube ticket office is being re constructed and there is some noise from that and hoardings up. Wicked by the way is a great show. Cross rail is at the places I mention some stations like Tottenham court road have been closing, it's closed on the central line at this time, but you can still get around.

I say avoid it as its a factor but all hotels still will give a great service.

We stayed at the London Marriott West India Quay conveniently located to great transportation. The room was "big". It was a curved living room and I believe the sq. ft. was approximately 800 sq. ft. However, I would confirm the exact sq. ft. by visiting their website. We took the DLR one day; then, we took the water transportation which we purchased with our Oyster card. It was great!

That is a great location, good for city sark, Greenwich, and the home of the London Olympics Stratford. The DLR is great for young children to ride in the front seats so they think their driving it.
