I didn't know that it was common sense to ask a question and exclude certain opinions and races.
You are putting me on ignore because I told you what images the Old South conjures up for me? Nice.
Good luck with your logo. I see it is geared towards only a certain demographic. You should have put that in your original post.
Are you from the south? The reason I ask is that most people of ALL races that actually LIVE here know that there is so much more to the south than the images you are choosing to conjure.
If someone is trying to come up with a logo do you really think they need your negativity? Really?
The racisim you speak of was all over the country not just the south. It was a sign of the times not a sign of the region.
I am sorry you hate the region of the country that I love so much. I can't change history even if I wish I could wipe that particular part of American history away. Seems to me we should learn from it and YOU need to stop hating the south in the same way that your grandparents were hated long ago.
I also hope that most of you realise that the "Scarlett O'Hara" type of living was not the majority. There were not as many rich, slave owners as people choose to believe. That was ONE PART of the south's history, not all of it. There is soo much more to the history of the south than that.
OP, we have an area of time that is long after the civil war but still very old houses. Those houses are what I think of when you say "old south".
Big, shaded porches, with porch swings and rockers, azealas and dogwood blooming (seen more in this part of the south than magnolias and absolutely beautiful when blooming together). Family and friends gathering on the porches on Sunday afternoon with tall glasses of ice tea. Talking, laughing and playing with the children.
Big BBQ's with family and friends all gathering. Picnic tables outside. Games of horseshoes and softball.
