I may very well be making my head spin over nothing here...so please help me!

Planning our upcoming trip mid July, and trying to wrap my head around the logisitics of how to see WoC.

Here's what is going on inside my own little mind:) I'm thinking to get FP for WoC, I must stand in line to get in the gates to DCA at least 30 min to 1hr before opening or go stand in FP line for 30 min to 1 hr to obtain a FP (maybe longer??). Then with FP in hand, must show up at 7:30 for the 9:00 showing. Am I correct in how this works?

If I am correct that means spending approx 2.5 hours or likely more of dedicated waiting time to see WoC. ???

I know with F! you have to show up early to reserve a spot, but we can usually do this fairly easily within one hour of show time.

I really really want to see this but getting overwhelmed with the amount of dedication it's going to take to see this!

It takes a bit of time, and you are going when the parks will be in summer mode. I'm not sure if they are still doing it, but during the opening weekend there was a separate line outside DCA for WoC Fastpass as opposed to mixing it in with the gate crowd.

Again not sure if any changes will be made by July, but I found you have to get there before 7:30. Opening weekend there was a double perimeter (for lack of a better word) around the viewing area. Once you got past the first, you then waited till they started to let people into the actual viewing area.

Do you have to get there early? Well that depends on the view you want. IMO the viewing area for WoC can be hard of the shorter folks in the crowd, especially if you don't get against the 'rail' of one of the tiers.

Your best bet is to buy the WOC picnic deal. For $14.99 you get a picnic dinner, a tote bag, and a FP for WOC. That's what I did for our upcoming trip in July.

It's true. If you don't want to wait for FP the picnic is a great deal. Plus if you get there early you can get a spot pretty close to the preferred dining area and not far from the early fastpassers.

The picnic I had was good, but probably not enough to completely sub in for a dinner or at least afternoon snack and picnic.

If we get the WOC picnic, does anyone have an idea of how long you have to wait in line to get into your ticketed area, and once there, how long you wait until the show starts?

One of our three boys is interested in WOC (surprisingly - they are usually not into shows!) but we might skip it if long waits are involved.

we showed up for to the first clearing gate at 7 and were let in a few moments later. Then we sat until about 8:15 when they made us stand up. We did the 9pm show so the preshow was on from about 8:30-8:45.

I was told last week when we were there by a lady that she waited in line for over 90 minutes to get FP on Monday 6/14. That is crazy.

I would go with either the picnic or the sit down meal to get a FP that way. Get there early so you can get a good viewing spot. I heard a lot of complaints from people about not being able to see, but they showed up at 8:30 so I don't feel bad for them.

My kids ages 4-11 loved the show.

the picnic--you order it online ahead of your trip, pick it up anytime during the day you ordered it for (& eat at your leisure), and then it comes with its own passes... for the 9:00 show, they say "return between 7:30-8:30." If you want the best possible area to stand, it sounds like you should actually return closer to 7--no later than 7:30... if you don't care so much where you stand, just get there anytime before 8:30.

Hello, and thanks for helping me again! I was seriously considering the picnic, but unless our pre-schooler falls asleep (not likely!) we're not going to be able to stand in one place for 2 hours! Not sure it will be worth it if we would just do the 8:30 return time - I'll just keep reading to see what others think about the value of the picnic if you don't plan to return until the last minute.

Thanks, again!
