Logistics issue with BOG/MSEP/Wishes

I'm realizing that I may not have planned our only night at MK very well. We have a 6:40 dinner reservation at BOG, and 9pm reservation at the TT dessert party (on 9/2). We were really hoping to see the MSEP too, but have two small children with us and a husband who HATES crowds.

I'm wondering
1- Is that dinner time going to be a problem with getting to the dessert party?
2- What is the best way to get from BOG to TT without fighting through the worst of the crowd? And is there a route that would allow us to see some of MSEP along the way (I understand it will likely be a poor or incomplete view, but it's worth asking!)

Thanks for any insight you might have!

When you leave BOG I think you'll find that foot traffic has been blocked through not only the castle but a wide sweep around the Hub. You'll probably have to walk through Tomorrowland and then back towards the Terrace to get there. That won't be a problem (it's probably not even that much farther to walk) but it won't lead you by any of the parade. You'll see that upper part of the floats from the Terrace and hear the droning melody of the MSEP song from there.

I would personally reconsider doing both BOG and the Dessert party. There is no way I could eat/enjoy the desserts after eating a full meal at BOG. I think a lot of people eat a larger late lunch and then have the desserts as a dinner substitute.

I would pick one or the other and not do both on the same night. I cant see being able to fully enjoy it. Just a thought.

Exactly. Your best bet will be to just go through Tomorrowland.

Is the reservation or fireworks at 9? Normally the party is an hour before wishes, and so is the parade. So you can see part of the parade from TT but not much. Unless there is a second parade, even if you wanted to stake out a spot for the MSEP before wishes, you wouldn't make it to TT from dealing with the crowd to actually enjoy much dessert at the party before getting a spot.

Maybe you could go back another night for MSEP? Or if the park is crowded they will sometimes add another parade which you should be able to watch after the party

Agree with this advice. However! Given that both reservations you've made are difficult to score, you'll be in a pickle trying to decide which to cancel. To me, BOG is the more difficult of the two, but I may be wrong -- thoughts, anyone?

ITA. Especially if you're on the dining plan and have desserts included with your meal at BOG. Their desserts are really good, so you're not going to want to turn them down! And whatever the dessert party costs is probably too much to justify just having a nice view of the fireworks, especially considering you can get a FP+ for that for free if you want. And the fact that they're fireworks and can be viewed pretty much anywhere.

In this scenario, they are basically impossible to do on the same night.

If it were me, I would cut the dessert party and head towards Frontierland as soon as I was done with BOG, then just watched MSEP and Wishes from there.

Thanks for the good advice. Booking both the same night was definitely not part of the original plan-- I scored BOG at 180 days, and chose 6:40 so as to have time to get a good parade seat after dinner (we are not on the DP). Then a few months later my hubby made a rare request, and asked to do the dessert party (I think mainly to avoid the crowds). I really hate to give up either!

Maybe we could:
1- Get a late lunch FP for BOG (anyone know what time lunch ends?) and keep TT party. Is this a bad idea?

2- Cancel the dessert party and just watch the parade and fireworks in Frontierland as mentioned. Will this be crowded? A fairly decent place to see both? Again, we'd choose a poorer view if it meant moving about easily and not fighting for a place to sit or stand.

3- Keep BOG and use FP+ for MSEP and Wishes. How crowded would those be? Or is that a waste of FP+?

Basically, the thought of dealing with some of the issues with people that have been mentioned on the boards make me anxious, and DH would hate to be stuck in the middle of a bunch of people. Are we over-reacting to what may be light Sept crowds?

Thanks so much for your help!

I would do option 1.
We are doing the FDP on our August trip (so excited) and we are having a late lunch that day at T-Rex in DTD. We are either going to skip dinner altogether or eat a very small snack. We want to be able to enjoy the desserts ;)

I know everyone loves the dessert party, but we hated it and will not be doing it again until we are traveling with a large group. The desserts were kinda icky (BOG has MUCH better desserts) and the view of Wishes was kinda subpar. It isn't a bad view, just OK. Standing at the rail is crowded (granted no where near as crowded as main st, but still 2 rows deep.) Reading reviews, I had this impression that you had all this space to your self. I guess our party must have been sold out since we were shoulder to shoulder. If you are going during a busy time of year, it is well worth the money, but if you are going during a slower time, I would get a FP+ if you are really worried about the crowds. Oh and we had a FP+ for MSEP last year. It might be a "waste" but it was a really great spot and I was very happy with it.

I would also choose option 1. A late lunch FP+ at BOG should be around 2:00. I think ours was at 2:15 last fall. Be sure, if this is the route you choose, to secure your FP+ time and make sure it fits with your schedule before you cancel your dinner ADR. Also, keep in mind that the Beast does not appear at lunch, so if meeting him is important to you, then you may want to scratch that option.

Oh! Really? Why, I never! Too GOOD to appear during lunch, is he? The nerve!
