Locals feel free to weigh in here. I need an offsite dinner and thought these two sounded like good choices for my peeps. Opinions?

Logans for me, i've eaten there for 7 years and have never had a bad meal.

Just gets better every time and i find the staff and service great as well.

We normally eat in the one across from old town.

I haven't tried Orlando Ale House in a long time, but we :lovestruc Logan's Roadhouse. Kids have a blast with shelling the peanuts (but not so good if you have allergies to peanuts!).

Logan's for sure ::yes:: . We did carry out but the food was DELICIOUS!

We tried Ale House and didn't enjoy it that much. I'm thinking it may be because it was late, we got lost looking for it, were tired, the kids were cranky and it was cold as heck in there. I plan to try them again under better circumstances  .

We got lost looking for Logan's too...it was POURING down raining and we kept riding past it  . They had even closed by the time we got there. They gave us peanuts to go also :woohoo:.

Just to throw another place into the mix - depending on where you are staying - my kids (and us adults too!) loved Longhorn Steakhouse. There is one on the 192 in Rolling Oaks Commons.

Kobe Japanese Steakhouse on the hibatchi (sp?) tables is fun.

My vote is Orlando Ale House....have Logan's here, but not the yummy Ale House.

We had a fun birthday celabration for a 4YO and DH50th. It was a pub that was kid friendly. Apps were great. There was a pool table, juke box and you can be a little loud. Worked great for our party ages 4-50.

Very nice Nacho's!

Which place were you at?

Can I only comment on Logans. We love it and it is always a must do on our tri to Florida

I say Orlando Ale House. I don't like going to chains when I'm on vacation, especially if we have one close to home. Plus, I used to spend a lot of time hanging out with other CMs there back when I did my CP. Honestly, can't remember how the food was, though. I can tell you the mixed drinks were good. pirate:

Do you mean that Orlando Ale House isn't a chain?Cause it is a chain with dozens of restaurants mostly in Florida with a few in other states. Many locations use the city's name such as Orlando Ale House or Brandon Ale House while other locations use the companies name of Miller's Ale house. They recently opened a new one by my house and the food while not horrible was nothing special, typical bar food. There's a Millers Ale House on International Drive close to the convention center.

Edited to add: My hubby looked them up, and it looks like Millers owns Orlando Ale House and various other ale houses with a location in the title. We go to the one in Hunters Creek (John Young Parkway).

There is a difference between the ORLANDO Ale House and MILLERS Ale House. Millers is a chain. I love Millers Ale House and Logans so it's hard to choose, but Logans is definitely a local favorite here in Celebration.

Its my favourite place to eat when we visit. I even have my little bucket on the desk....................i'll be there in two weeks:banana:

Ale House all the way. We eat every trip to Orlando...Miami.....everywhere we can find one, we eat there. Our DD loves it and always has. Great prices, wonderful soups and salads....we usually get a few appetizers and make a meal out of them! I love this place. Will be there in 10 days!

A slightly dissenting opinion here.

We finally paid our first visit to Logan's a week ago and thought it was average at best, both the food and service.

I had their ribs - apparently their claim to fame - and while very meaty, nothing special. Actually, they pale in comparison to Celebration Town Tavern.

For a steakhouse, we've had much much better experiences at Longhorn.

Haven't been to Ale House in quite a while, but it's always been a good.

If the "chain" label makes a difference, the Miller's Ale House chain is a chain started and still owned, I think, by a family living in Florida while Logan's is a semi-national chain owned by the corporation that runs the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain. What I think that that means is that there might be some location-specific variation between the Ale House restaurants while the Logan's restaurants will be pretty much the same from location to location. So, if you like the Logan's in, say, Cincinnati or Memphis you'll like the Logan's in Orlando.
