We have a 6;30 am departure out of Logan Term E on Jet Blue. Couple questions - how early should we arrive and where should we park? We have 3 small kids and didn't really want to do Park, Shuttle and Fly. Any thoughts, comments?

My DH recently flew jetblue to MCO and he parked in Central garage - long term parking. It is on the pricey side. We, too, usually fly SWA out of Manchester and the parking is so reasonable compared to Logan. But, he did like the ability to pick your seat and not get up at midnight to print out a boarding pass to get an A.

Jet Blue recommends you check in 90 minutes prior to your departure at Logan.

One thing you might consider, I think Jet Blue has curb-side check-in at Logan...You may want to drop your family members off there with the luggage at curb-side check-in and then go park at Central Parking or an off site lot.

We took this flight in August and we're taking it again Oct 30. In August DH wasn't going so drove us and dropped us at the curbside check in and we got there about 5:15a because of detours and traffic! Luckily our flight was changed to 7:15a so we were still really early.

Anyway, when we go as a family and our flight is that early, we stay the night before at the Holiday Inn Logan Express. It's about $170 for the night (it varies by when you go, we paid $149 last year) and 10 days parking included. The Central parking is VERY expensive so we only do it if our flight is in the middle of the day. It is the most convenient parking but it's $22 a day.

The Economy parking is $16 a day but they shuttle you to your terminal...DH doesn't like that. So for us it's either Central parking or Holiday Inn Express. Their shuttle is every 15 minutes 24 hours a day. Many many pilots and stewardesses stay there so we share the shuttle with them. The shuttle is 5 minutes. Very fast.

I've looked into other hotels and they are either more money or further away. The Hyatt a the airport was over $200 a night!!!

Good luck deciding.

Thx for the reply - I saw your posts and considered your suggestion previously. My hesitation is that my kids won't get any sleep the night before and they'll be cranky on the way down. Mine are 3, 6, and 7. How do yours do? BTW, we weren't telling them either so they weren't too excited the night before to sleep. (I'm a bedtime commando; can you tell  ). Thanks for the advice!

Not sure what you are asking me? How I handled getting the girls up in the morning so early and driving in? Only did this this past August.

Or are you asking me how I handled staying at the Holiday Inn at Logan?

For the waking early...we had to get up EARLY! We live about 45 minutes away give or take depending on traffic so we left our house at 4:15a!! The kids woke up 3:30a!!

For the sleeping over, we make a night of it. We go get daddy at work after dropping the dogs at the kennel. We then eat dinner in Boston and sometimes go to the Prudential mall...they used to have a Disney store but it closed. :( Then we head to the hotel...they have a pool. We just end up watching a movie and going to bed early. I have good sleepers so they usually go right to bed. Then we wake around 4:00a, with the kids getting up at the last minute, maybe 4:30a and we head downstairs for the shuttle by 5:00a and get to the airport in 5 minutes. That's to get there by 5:15a.

Being 5 minutes away is much better than being 45 minutes away!!

Let me know if you have any more questions...oh and my DDs are 5 and 8 years old.

Decided to go with Ludwig Limo - van actually - to pick us up. $55 one way and we'll have family get us on the return. Much cheaper than parking car. Thanks for the input everyone!
