My son ( 17) and I flew into MCO to visit Universal last Friday for a long weekend trip! It has been 9 years since our last visit to UO. We visit Disney 3-4 times per year, but decided to give UO another look! We usually stay at GF, Wilderness Lodge, and Yacht/ Beach club. I had thought that we would do Portofino Bay or Royal Pacific (Hard Rock is a little too loud for me!) for this trip; however, when I began to read the reviews the Sapphire Falls had excellent reviews for half the price! Also we did not need express passes due to the low crowd levels. Sapphire Falls pros:
Excellent location-Boats ran regularly and even more often than other resorts. There always seemed to be one right around the bend if the previous boat filled. Also we liked the walk along the shaded path on the water.
Staff-This is where this resort exceeded expectations in my opinion. We asked for a high floor w/ a lagoon view and it was given. Also we arrived at 11:30 and the room was ready and in excellent condition.
Due to COVID there is no housekeeping, but you may text any items you need and they are delivered promptly! I used the coffee shop each morning and the items were delivered promptly and with a smile. We ate at Amatista one night and it was very good. We both had steaks and whle the cut was on the thin small side they were cooked a perfect medium rare! The common areas are extremely open, clean, and quiet in the morning. I usually get up by 6 am each morning and the lobby provided the perfect location for my morning coffee and news! The door attendants that provided temperature checks and bands were some of the most genuinely nice people I encountered. They greeted me each morning with a smile and even when my son forgot to get a band the security guards at the boat launch provided one.
The beds were extremely comfortable (tad bit on the firm side) but I like firm mattresses. The shower had excellent pressure and the room decor was pleasing with good lighting. Also it was very easy to use the attached parking deck.
Cons-no balcony in most of the rooms. This is totally my fault as I did not research if they had balconies and they do have suites with balconies! We were not willing to splurge!
I will definitely stay at this resort again because of the employees, but the facilities are top notch!
