Loews First Card

I applied online about 2 weeks ago for my Loews First Card. About how long will take to receive? We will be staying at HRH in June. Thanks

If memory serves, it took a good long while to get mine. So long, in fact, that when the envelope arrived, I couldn't remember how long it had been since I'd ordered it!

Uh, what exactly is the Loews First Card?

I found the online sign up for it on the Loews site,
but I'm still unclear about it.

Is there any fee for signing up? Do I need to tell them I have this card when I book? Does it affect hotel rate at all (I'll probably book with Entertainment Book rate)?

I got my card in about 3 weeks. It may have been less I was suprised it came so quick. There is no charge for the card. I am not sure about any special rates.

Ordered mine in January and they still tell me it's in the mail! I do have the number though. You can call and get that.

I got mine in about 3 weeks. I did get the upgrade to pool view - but no cookies! According to what I overheard at the front desk - this is an ongoing problem! Front desk definitely put in my "perk" request - and did it again the next day when I asked about it - but didn't get either night! That's about the only negative thing I have to say about them though!


mloren - there is no fee for the Loew's First - I think there are different levels - but mine was free and I did get an upgrade!

Glad you got the upgrade too. Did you have to pay rack rate to get the upgrade? I've been told by hotel staff twice now that you do.
I know they're not all on the same sheet of music there though.

NOPE! I booked through www.travelnow.com for $139.00 a night ($156 with tax)

The front desk didn't say a thing about it!

I got my card I applied for online while I was still on hold waiting for the 800 number to pick up

Metaphorically speaking.
I called the 800 number, waited on hold for half an hour.
Gave up, filled in the online application, which said 5-6 weeks to get if applied for online.

It showed up in the mail less than 2 weeks later.

It included a card to indicate my preferences, which I'd entered in the online application,
so I don't know if those have actually been entered into their database or not.

Hey!!!!! I just received by Loews First Card in the mail today! I'm sooooo excited! After hearing from Disney Deb that they really do give you the welcome gift even if you don't directly book with them, I was just thrilled. Can't wait till the end of June when we go. Thanks for all your help!

Used Loews First card, and the CM put the number on our ressie. We booked using the Entertainment Card....got no upgrade, no cookies, no nuttin!

Seems like it is a hit or miss kind of thing with them. Technically speaking...your not entitled to anything if you book using a discount, but somehow or other many people get these perks anyway. We just weren't one of them.

We loved the Portofino Hotel. Our one and only complaint was asking for a room in the "West Wing" and getting a room at the farthest end of the Villa room area. We felt like we needed to call a cab just to get to the lobby. Ordinarily we need the extra exercise...but I just thought it a big inconvience when we wanted a snack at the deli to walk this distance after walking all day at the parks....not a good thing!

Otherwise, our rooms were the best rooms out of all of the hotels we stayed in (Poly, AKL, Hawthorn suites).
I wish Disney would build a deluxe like the Portofino. Love those bathrooms...that was a good thing!

Where did you read this? I looked at all my Loew's info packets & it never said you weren't entitiled to any of the perks if you got a discount on a room. It did say upgrades only if they had them available. I got my feebies at the HRH with a discounted room but was told there weren't any upgrades available.

CPM...I don't have the information that I was sent, but I can tell you that it is a known fact here in the boards that Loews policy excludes discounted rooms such as using the "Entertainment Card" rate...it's considered a group rate of some sort. Loews emailed me with this information a month ago when I directly inquired about it. Perhaps there is someone on the boards here who knows a bit more about it than I do.

Is booking through a travel agent considered getting a discount rate? The information I received didn't say anything about being excluded from the welcome gift because you have a discounted rate or a package, but maybe I missed something.

I booked my room from a website and got it for $139.00 - and I got the Loew's upgrade.

I spoke with a "Marta" from corporate ( Director PR and Customer Service of Lowes) regarding an upgrade on my card - blue to gold. Guess what? This will be my third stay at Universal, and my fifth w/ Lowes and because I did not book rack rate (according to Lowes), I should not even get credit for any stays; however, they have me down as "1" credit! I booked with a fan card rate and Entertainment rate. I contacted Lowes via phone and writing and did get an official response from corporate stating that this was in their by-laws per the Lowes First Club.

Oh, well! It is more impt. that I get a good rate than my cookies and milk and a "possible" upgrade!

You know that's pretty stinky of them not to give the perks if you use a discounted rate! And especailly not even give you credit for staying there! It's not like there are that many Loew's hotels! I belong to other "frequent guest" programs & none of them have that rule!
