We are leaving late this afternoon after work :yay:
I have a quick question...I have never flown before so I was curious to know if anyone locks their luggage? I am sooo last minute and I just thought about this. If anyone has an opinion about this please post asap as I wont have internet access for very long today until next Friday :sad1:

I do, more to keep it shut than anything. Plus, if your room isn't ready and you need to store your stuff with bell services at your hotel, it's a little more secure.

If you plan on locking it when you fly, you'll need to use a lock that is TSA accessible.

me too patster.

i buy the TSA locks at kmart.

the number on the bottom of the lock will let the TSA agent know which key to use for it to unlock it.

i always use the locks, even when in my room.

i'm just weird like that.

Ok see what i get for not thinking of this sooner...I never heard of tsa acessable locks. I have never flown before and never had trouble storing my luggage before and after we check out. (knock on wood) So I guess we're stopping at Kmart on the way to the airport hotel...thanks guys!!!

Not wierd, just being safe.

i have never locked my luggage.

Over here, UK, quite a few people have had luggage damaged when the TSA have forced open cases, particularly hard bodied cases with combination locks so it is better to use TSA approved locks to secure them. I also use cable ties as well for added security with these locks. I think you can also get TSA luggage straps locks for hard bodied combination cases.

However, since the new rules came into effective a few years ago, up to now and touch wood our cases have never been opened.

wickett, the TSA locks i have can be opened by any TSA agent at the airports.

my locks have a number on the bottom and the TSA agents have keys that match the numbers.

i have not had any issues with damaged luggage that has been opened by them.

my main concern is having my luggge locked up while in the room while i am in the parks.
i have had 2 occasions with items missing while staying at a disney resort.

haven't had issues at universal hotels but there is always the first time anything can happen
i use the locks while at universal resorts out of habit still.

Prior to my Recent Flights, I last flew in June 2001. I locked my luggage on flights prior to.

Nowadays, I don't lock my luggage.

Thanks, I use TSA approved locks and have now swapped all our cases over to soft bodied ones with zips. It was our hard bodied black one that caused us more concern with it just having a combination lock so we had to use a luggage strap and cable ties to lock it. My fear was it could spring open if not locked properly.

Thankfully we have had no damage to our cases with locks being forced open on cases without TSA locks.

I totally agree about locking things up in the room, we do and also use the safes. After staying in hotels and seeing doors left open when the cleaners are in or not in makes it wise to stick valuables away.:)
