Locking Down Parks at Night

I don't know about anybody else, but this thread is makes me a little nervous. Do we really know why a poster with 3 posts wants to know about security at our favorite parks. My vote would be to ignore this post just in case.

Nah - I love learning about this stuff as well. I've always wanted to be able to just hang out in MK overnight and watch everything that goes on. Checking out the backstage areas on Google Earth is fun too.

There are a few good books that have some behind the scenes info on Disney - really liked MouseTales (I even think there was a part that talked about the security sweeps at night and things people have done). The Dark Side of Disney has some funny stories too and to confirm what most people have said here, people trying to sneak into Disney usually end up on the wrong side of a security area.

I think a lot of the assumption is that after everything to eat, buy, and ride has closed down, people wander out on their own.

That said, we were at Epcot last September and it closed after Illuminations, but we decided to walk around the showcase afterwards to let the crowds at the transportation areas thin out. We were there a good 45 min/hour after park close. There were CM's EVERYWHERE though. Nobody asked us to leave, though we thought they would, and I'm sure at some point they would have.

I remember the time before though having super late reservations at Coral Reef and we got out waaaaay after park close. There were security guards stationed at all the junctions waving goodbye, but the fact of the matter was if we wandered the wrong way, they came right over and asked if we needed help finding the front gate. LoL

Every Park has a patterned sweep that starts a certain time after scheduled closing. It involves pairs of CMs going to the back of the Park and walking toward the gate. All restrooms are checked to make sure they are empty. All attraction entrances and exits are checked.

I know when I worked at DHS we would hold up near the full-service restaurants until we were told the last Guest had finished. We would not bother or rush the Guests. But we would not allow them to head any deeper into the Park. If they wanted to talk with us, we would hold a conversation with them while walking toward the Gate. But if they did not want to talk to us we did stay behind them.
