Hi
we're visiting WDW for the first time for our honeymoon in August. We've got all our ADRs booked but I've a query regards lockers in the parks.

We're dining in the parks most evenings but dont fancy sitting down to eat in the vest/shorts we've been wearing all day. We don't want to have to trail all the way back to our hotel (Carribbean Beach) as I'm told it can be about a 2-hour round-trip from some of the parks? So we were thinking of bringing a bag for a change of clothes/toiletries to stash in the lockers.

Are lockers easily located in each park? And do they accept coins or is it a counter/manned operation? ANd are there always plenty available?

Thanks guys

Hopefully this will answer some of your questions. The lockers are located near the park entrances and are marked on the maps. They should be available if you arrive in the morning. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/locker-rentals/

However, I get the impression from some of your wording, that you may be from the UK. And may be underestimating how indescribably hot and humid Florida is in the summer. I'm talking surface of the sun hot with humidity high enough to suck the energy right out of you. Returning to your resort for a couple of hours during the hottest part of the day is a very prudent thing to do. And then you return refreshed for the evening activities in the park.

There are lockers in the front of each of the parks. You get a key and when you return it you get $5 back?? or something along those lines. I've never had a problem getting a locker.

I can't remember exactly but i think if you park hop the same day and bring your receipt to the new park you get a locker without the charge of a new one. I could be completely wrong since its been a while since we used lockers. We usually put jackets for the night time in there and it hasn't been cold in our recent trips.

You certainly are correct MinnieMum, we're British and certainly not used to that kind of heat. Would it be a big hassle to head back from the parks (say, MK), to our hotel for a quick shower/turnaround?

The numerous podcasts/websites I've come across have constantly put across the exhaustion message, that if you try to do too much you'll just end up tired and grumpy. That said, we want to get the balance right between getting as much in as we can, but still having the downtime to be able to fully enjoy it. However, from our previous holidays in Spain/Italy, when we've been at the beach/pool all day we really couldnt go without a shower before the evening's festivities...

Forgot to say, we won't have a car and will be using the buses to get around WDW. How easy is it to get taxis around the resorts/parks? And are they pricey? We don't mind paying for the odd few here and there but don't want to be relying on them

we're from the UK & stay on site, we go to the parks early in the morning and then spend the afternoon at the resort & then go back out. It's a much more relaxing holiday and it's nice to get out of the heat and enjoy the pool. We used the buses mainly between the parks and the resorts & to go further a field used UBER.

We do pretty much exactly what pinklotusflower described, and only use Disney transportation. The one hour estimate for park-resort transfer is really the maximum you should expect, and that builds in the time you would wait if you just miss the previous bus. We have usually made those trips in 30 minutes when staying at a mod resort. We usually only take taxis if we are going from resort to resort, since (except for the monorail resorts) there's no direct Disney Transport. But taxis are available at every resort and near the bus stops at every park except MK. For MK, you would walk to the CR and take a taxi from there. (do the reverse if taxiing from your resort to MK. Otherwise, if you tell a driver you want to go to the MK, they'll drop you at the TTC).

Doing the parks in summer can be absolutely exhausting. And the afternoons are not only the hottest time of day, but have the longest standby lines. Going back to the resort at that time allows for a swim, a siesta, a chance to recoup your energy. So you can really enjoy the somewhat cooler evening hours back in the park.
