Lockers at the water parks

I understand there are lockers to rent at the water parks. Can anyone tell me what they give you to carry around to get back in the locker - is it an actual key, or a wrist band that allows you back in? My DS is going on a school trip & he needs to lock up his valuables while he's there & I'm hoping you don't actually carry a key around (kind of defeats the purpose of locker, doesn't it??).

You have a key but it is attached it a wristband and they let you take it on all the rides.
