Lock-off question

I have received 2 different answers from MS recently about booking a lock-off. I asked if there was any way we could book a 2BR at OKW and BWV as we are planning travel with elderly people and while we are planning for them to be healthy for travel, it is many months away still. If somebody falls ill and can't handle the trip, we wish to cancel the studio portion of the ressie and keep the 1BR intact. The thought of having to cancel completely and re-book a 1BR IF AVAILABLE makes me nervous.

I was told by 2 different CM's to request a lock-off and that will take care of our problems, we can cancel the studio and keep the 1BR portion of the ressie. A different CM told us no. Anybody know what is accurate?

Thanks much...

My understanding is if there is a waitlist for the 1 bedroom when you want to change it, you will not be permitted to. You would have to get on the waitlist for a 1 bedroom. The only way to get around it is to book a 1 bedroom and studio separate. Also keep in mind if you cancel 30 days or less, those points would go into holding.

I had a 2-Bedroom lock-off reserved this past October wanted to drop the stuido and keep the 1-Bedroom, I couldn't do it had to cancel the reservation. I guess I'm lucky I also had a Stuido reserved for the same time. I had seven extended family members that couldn't make the trip.

As noted, this would be considered a cancellation and rebooking you cannot simply split the lockoff. If they were on a wait list, you would lose your reservation. If no wait list it doesn't matter. You could make separate reservation for a 1 BR and a studio. Or you could make a 2 BR and a separate 1 BR and cancel the one you end up not needing preferably by 31 days out.

A number of years ago they would allow you to do it this way and simply split the lockoff but not anymore though this is one of the areas where it depends on who you get when you call.
