I requested Kidani Village for this august and we got it!! 2 bedroom..!!:cool1: But I was taking a really good look at the map last night.. and realized how far it was from the main building.. We are going to use to dining plan so we will take advantage of Mara.. for quick services.. Based on the map in the Dreams Book.. you could be quite a distance away.. This may be a stupid question but im not familiar at all with the AKL.. but will there be a walking path between the 2 resorts and the savana or will you have to walk all the way around..? I mean based on the pictures the place looks huge.. we stayed at SSR this past august and it cant be bigger than that..

The units in Kidani that will open first will the ones closest to Jambo House so the walk shouldn't be too bad. When Kidani is finished it will be a good distance from the far end units to Jambo but Kidani will have its own bus stops, sit down restaurant, pool, etc.

There is supposed to be a walkway, covered I believe, between the 2 buildings that is supposed to be pretty long, like half a mile or something. The restaurants in Jambo would be the main draw to make folks want to take the walk. I would do it to get some Jiko.

There has even been some talk about wanting a trail to get from AKV to the Animal Kingdom Park, so folks apparently aren't too afraid to walk a ways.

As hellerjw said you will be able to walk between buildings. There is no way to cross the savanna so you will have to walk around the outside of both buildings. It will be about 1/2 mile between the main entrances of the two buildings. If your room is on the Jambo House side of the Kidani lobby, the walk will be shorter, assuming there are exit doors along the building which I expect there will be. I don't know whether the walkway will be covered or not. The drawings of Kidani don't show a covered walkway but the drawings don't show the bus stop either and we've been told there will be one. Also, unless they provide an elevated walkway connecting the two buildings, you will have to cross the entrance to the area used by delivery trucks and garbage trucks so it wouldn't be possible to cover that part. I wish we had more detailed information on some of these things!

Shared facilities...Anyone have any updates on the Kidani, Samawati Springs Pool? I believe I did read a DVC article stating that guests of Animal Kingdom Resort will be able to use Samawati Springs Pool over at Kidani?

Any update on pool use at Samawati Springs? Strange, seems to contradict
limited pool use at BLT by CR guests? Isn't the idea similar?

Much thanks...If the facilities are "shared" at Kidani/Jambo, hope the walk is pleasant!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

There are still conflicting reports on who gets to use Kidani pool area. Some are being told all AKL/AKV guests and others Kidani guests and any DVC members staying at Jambo. Perhaps there may be some limitation like that early on that will just fade away after the "new" period ends. There is a natural barrier to Jambo guests flocking over to the Kidani pool -- that pool area is about 2/3 of a mile from Jambo. There will be no pool hopping to AKL/AKV by members staying at other resorts.

You could always take the shortcut through the Savana but you would have to be quick for two reasons.

1. You need to run faster than security, because there really is no path through the savana.

and

2. and most important, you need to run faster than the lions, because they are looking for the easiest way to get a meal as well. :lmao:
