Location of Grand Californian park view rooms?

Wow, that is a great view... So if you jump off the balcony can you jump into one of the mulholland madness cars!!!

:rotfl2: Well you almost could, its pretty close. I actually joked a couple of times when an empty car would go past saying "quick, lets get on" :rotfl:
People were often waving too as it is very close to that ride. I did not use the zoom on that photo. I did on the fire photo but that first photo is not zoomed.

We were there last month. We had two rooms (theme park view) The first was just terrible. I overlooked the soarin line area and we could see the monorail, but our main view was the other wing of the hotel, we would not have thought the view was that bad (although the view into the other rooms wasn't the best) until we moved to another room with a view over the pier.

The reason we moved was because of the unbearable construction noise that was occuring on the 3rd floor in the room below us (we were 4414!!!! The drilling hammering etc was a nightmare. When I called down to say I'm sorry we can not stand this noise anymore, I couldn't hear the CM on the phone talking the drilling was so loud. When it stopped briefly I apologised that I could not hear her if she was speaking because of the noise. She was horrified as she said it was loud for her through the phone. Honestly if we were talking in our room, we had to shout to hear each other over the noise.

None of those maps above have the new wing.

Anyway we moved to another 4th floor room, way on the other side of the hotel in the NEW wing. The view was AMAZING!!!!!! When we go again, we will be requesting a room in the new wing. The glass is really thick so once you close the doors you can't hear anything from the outside. Pity they didn't put the same thing in the walls as the glass, whilst we couldn't hear anything below or above us, we could hear EVERY word the people in the room beside us were saying at night (put that on the case, we'll do the teacups first up in the morning, I'm taking back control of this family " etc :rotfl2: If only they knew we could hear everything they were saying. The walls were so thin I could even make out that they were Australian by the accent.

Now aside from that, and that was only for two nights we couldnt' hear a thing. On that photo above, the new wing is where the J or backwards L shaped car park is Our room was in the middle of the row of cars closest to the Mullhulland Madness ride

But I would request the new wing and a high floor. Our view was just amazing!!!!

What are they constructing?
A little rap on the walls may have quieted down the neighbors real quick :)
I'll be there soon at the DVC portion and can't wait to see what it's like. I've loved this hotel since 2001 and never had anything but good times.

What are they constructing?

The rooms below where we were in 4414 (that hall and the next hall along from it as far as I know, it may have been the whole floor over that side) were/are being remodelled. We could see from our balcony below that the room near us (but below) was floor to ceiling mattresses. They were (and maybe still are) stripping the rooms back of all furniture and fixtures and refitting them, new carpet etc and happened to be doing the room directly under us at the time. I hadn't realised that GCH rooms were undergoing renovation but they were when we were there, the third floor was. When we were walking to the elevators and we would see over the landing to the floor below and there was a security guard there the whole time.

Thanks aussietravellers for all this information. Now I'm having second thoughts about requesting the new wing for the incredible view because this would be adding quite a bit of walking to get to our room.

Does the incredible view outweigh the longer walk to the parks, even if we take the reserved DCA entrance? If there is still construction going on maybe we should avoid the "east" wing? :confused3

Of course, this is all speculation since there are no guarantees we'll be placed in our requested floor/wing. :rotfl:

We didn't find the location to be a problem of the new wing at all. As far as going to DTD or the lobby it is 6 of one, half a dozen of the other, the distance is much the same (actually it may have been a little quicker to walk to the lobby from the new wing" and it's closer and more convenient to the pool in the new wing. Yes it's further to get to WWS and Storytellers and the CA entrance, but not that much further and we would cut through the pool to go to them so really it added maybe a minute but if you have a theme park view near 4414 where we were, or even further around, you still have a walk to those places anyway.

Honestly we didn't even once think about it being too far away from anything, when I saw your post I was :confused3 thinking "adding quite a bit of walking" to where? :rotfl: The distance to anything did not enter our heads once. Honestly depending on where you are located in both theme park view areas, you could be further away from the CA entrance even on the noisy side :rotfl: (That's what we call it now). Really to reception then to DTD it isn't really any further and with cutting through the pool to get to WWS or the CA entrance it just isn't much of an extra distance (even if you don't cut through the pool it really isn't that far). My DS ended up with a horrendous infection in his big toe whilst there, he couldn't wear a closed in shoe, I had to go and buy him flipflops, we had to get the Dr to the room and soak and dress his foot daily. Even with that, we didn't think anything of the walk from our room to get places.

So to answer your question. Yes, The view and the new wing is definately worth the the extra distance, because depending on where you are going it isn't really much further away. :thumbsup2

Oh gosh! Hearing about your husband's toe makes me feel like a total wimp. :rotfl: If he can walk all about with a hurt toe, I think we can make it. We're young and fit. :cheer2: Ok, I'm going to call tomorrow and put in a request.

I hope your hubby is fully recovered.

We have stayed in both the garden view and with a view of the pool. The garden view was not that noisy from the monorail and we were in 6323 and had a half view of the fireworks and a view of downtown disney.

Hi there aussietravellers!
I wanted to thank you for the excellent room suggestion. We just got back from staying in room 4252, right next door to you. Originally, we were assigned a pool view room but thanks to your advice I knew exactly what to ask for. The view was incredible! As you said, the walk to the lobby was short, no problem at all. :cool1: We ate lunch on the balcony and folks on Mulholland Madness waved at us. We also had drinks on the balcony at night and took in all the lights at DCA.

Thank you so much for the update :goodvibes

That is great to hear and it sounds like you had a fantastic trip! Isn't that view just amazing, its just so close to Mulholland Madness, when you first see it it really gives you the wow factor. A true theme park view.
I'm glad you didn't find the walk too far, we really didn't think anything of the walk as being far away from anything. How wonderful having drinks on the Balcony, I think I remembered you saying you had friends going with you for their first trip, did they love the view?

They were impressed by the view but what they REALLY loved was the giant jacuzzi at the Mariposa pool. We all felt very posh walking down to the jacuzzi in our robes. The walk from the lobby to the room was very quick, not a problem at all.

Yes, thats it, seeing the map, it was 4250. We didn't think 4414 was all that bad, we were at GCH for 14 nights and moved after night 2 so we had 12 nights with that amazing view. When we moved to 4250 and saw that view we just kept saying OMG, now THATTTTT is a theme park view. People would sometimes wave from Mullhulland Madness ride we were so close. I really hope you get that view. Once you have had that view it would be very hard to move back over the other side to that theme park view. :wizard: to getting the new wing. Here is another photo of them fire testing one night The fire was so hot we could feel the heat from our balcony. We even loved being out on the balcony after and before park opening.

I might be a bit ignorant but in the map of the GC, im only seeing room numbers like 416, 414, 412 etc..Is your room, 4250 on a different floor?:confused3 Sorry if this is a no brainier, i just want to familiarize myself with the hotel before I go. Thanks

Sorry the first map I posted was old and didn't have the new rooms they created with the new wing. here is the latest map:

Incredible!! I found this link in the Grand Californian DVC owners thread. http://files.me.com/clyde1138/wbxyix This map shows the room numbers in the new wing. 4250 looks just about right for the location you describe.

416, 414 etc are the room numbers, then add a number before and you get the floor number. So 4416 is 4th floor, 2416 is 2nd floor etc On the maps they just have the last three numbers as these are always the same, they then add the number before for the floor number. If you are looking at the maps at the beginning of this thread they are old and not the current maps of the GCH rooms. Hawleys quote above has a link to a current map of GCH which has all of the rooms. So we were on the 4th floor room so on the map it would be 250 and the 4 means its the 4th floor so 250 becomes 4250 :goodvibes

Right, the last map I saw was the one you just posted. My question is, I'm just seeing 3 digit numbers on the rooms, for example 414. In previous posts, members mentioned rooms with 4 digit room numbers. Is there a difference?

I think I answered your question in my post above :goodvibes

I probably posted when you were typing :lmao:

Great descriptions and pictures!! My question is any of these rooms villas? Or are there any villas in the new wing? Does anyone know specifically which ones are?

From my understanding, the new wing is what houses the villas, I could be wrong though.
