Location at WL

I'm booked for concierge at WL. I'm taking my Mom who is somewhat mobility impaired. While she can walk, she can't walk for long distances. She has breathing/lung problems. We'll get a wheelchair for her if we go to the parks. When we get off the elevator on the 7th floor, how far away are the rooms? Do they have rooms close to the elevator that have somewhat decent views? Can I request a room close to the elevators?

I thought about scrapping concierge and getting one of the special needs rooms, but really wanted to treat her to concierge.

Terri, You should be able to request a room close to the elevators. I have never been on the concierge floor at WL, so I have no idea how it is set-up.
On the WDW website, it says that there are a limited number of wheelchairs available for guest use at the resorts . Perhaps you could get one of these while at the resort, so that your mother will be comfortable and able to tour the resort.

Wheelchairs are available in limited numbers for Walt Disney World® Resort Guests at each Resort. Contact Guest Services or the Front Desk for assistance. A $250 deposit will be held on the Guest room account charged only if the wheelchair is not returned. Guests wishing to guarantee the use of a wheelchair throughout their stay should contact local area rental companies to make arrangements.

WL Guest Services will provide a courtesy wheelchair while you are there. They are available at each parks entrance for 8.00.

The rooms surround the lobby, some are near the elevators, but none are more then 100to 150 feet, est. You can make your request at check in. as far as views it pretty much depends on which side of the resort you will be on. There is a large outside deck across the back of the lobby and I am sure she would enjoy some time there.
The best courtyard access is to go down the hall way on the left side of the lobby, turn left and take the door across from Roaring Forks.

The trip to the boat dock and bus station is rather long, but wheelchair friendly.

The beautiful part of staying concierge is that wonderful personal per-planning service! I'd suggest you call the concierge desk and speak with them directly. Thought I haven't stayed it at WL, I have heard so many wonderful things about their service. I'm sure they will take very good care of you!

When you get a call from the itinerary planning office please let them know exactly what you mention here.

I'm sure the concierge team will help you get the room you need.

I would definately still stay concierge. It will be such a treat for your Mom.

When we stayed concierge at WL we opted to be on a lower floor and I regret that decision. I heard toilets flushing at all hours, showers running above us. That is exactly what we DON'T want this time so being up on 7 should allow for a quieter room.

Does anyone know if there is more than 2 sets of elevators on the concierge floor. I know about the ones near the concierge desk and the ones down the hall by the Yellowstone Suite. Are there elevators in the North Wing?

The walk from the elevators to any room on the 7th floor is pretty short. I would be more concerned about the walking from the park wheelchair return back to the resort. If you are using the buses/boats some of them can be a fairly good walk away. Have you thought about renting a motorized cart for the whole trip? Then she can just drive it onto the bus/boat and never worry about walking. Check out the disabilities board for ideas.
