~~~ Local Weather Updates Please ~~~
I see that I'm not the only one who hasn't checked-in...in a while.
Weather in Melbourne.....cold, cold and mizzly, temps in the 50's during the day. The ash cloud from the Chilean volcano is passing by for the second time and flights are resuming out of Melbourne airport again. Who knows if the ash cloud will swirl pass again?
Perfect day. 76, a few puffy clouds floating by to supply shade.
Deep in the heart of the jungle, where the big cats roam, as well as many a poacher, as I was about to finally sit down long enough so as to update my weather report....Alas.... I had to run for cover once again, otherwise possibly finding my self at the end of not only a very sharp and nasty dart, but one that has been dipped in poison. What is especially bad about this particular concoction is that although it will not kill you, ultimately it will. For it renders it's victims as helpless as a limp noodle. Then the not so friendly (And to say the least at that) natives, some of whom are related to Trader Sam, then will take their victims to their village. Where upon said victim is then placed into a huge cauldron (It was purchased from the farmers almanac) on sale no less too.... where fabulous spices from around the world are then shaken not stirred, not yet into the pot. Then the locals do a little ritualistic dance, so as to thank their soon to be meal for their sacrifice. Kind of like blessing the pig, before the kill. Only not nearly as messy. Then as a keep sake (For the natives, not their victim) they take the head from their main entrée, salt it, let it set about and out in the sun, for several days at that, until it shrinks. I love those shrunken heads. And would love it ever so much if one might be good enough so as to give me one as a giftie. I have asked Trader Sam for one, as well as his long distance cousin Trader Joe, for one, but they keep on saying that unless I can pay them enough, then still no deal. Mind you, we are not talking USD, but rather a herd of elephants, plus a panda (Don't ask, not yet anyway) a baby chimp, and Justin baby, bebier, however you spell the young lads name. I keep on telling them that I can supply the elephants, maybe even the panda, but not the bebier kid, he just won't negotiate on the trade. He would love though to go on a real authentic jungle cruise. One that is hosted by someone that has knowledge of the river, and its rich lands, as well as having a real keen sense of humor too. Being me of course..... after all, whom else did y'all have in mind?
Now once I can stop running from those nasty darts, and have a real chance to catch my breath, I will stop long enough to finally give my weather update. In the meantime, I can say at least this much, today it was hot ........ and ........ humid........ with the weather being tomorrow....... hot......... and ............... humid. So stay tuned to my local and foreign newscasts for the latest updates on well really anything and everything.
With all that running in the jungle you did, :rotfl2: you forgot to say it RAINED ALL DAY in the middle of summer!! :scared1: I couldn't believe it! I wore jeans and a long sleeve shirt just like it was winter! The rain seems to be gone now but still waiting for the sun. And I'm still wearing jeans instead of shorts. :sad2:
Ah Pink B .... don't worry, it will become like a nice spring day again, or summer, which I believe technically it is now.
Out in the jungle, where I am currently located, the monsoon season has recently ended. Now I hear back in Northern Ca. USA yes, it rained more on then off, yesterday. With cloud coverage lasting the entire day. I was sent a text message from a local source, updating me on our weather out there. And that today, although there is a hint of rain in the air, so far, it has been a no show. And that it is cloudy and cool. With temperatures in the low to mid 60's, lasting over the course of the day. With high humidity. It is always very interesting when during summer, it is like a nice cool, wonderful Fall day. And wouldn't you know it, my silly source, whom has so many umbrellas, ended up with not a one in her car. So she ended up with damp hair as well as clothing at times. Ha!
Now out here in the wild, once again hot and humid... most definitely a reoccurring theme for the jungle here.
I am still attempting to negotiate with the local traders, for a shrunken head. No, not to shrink mine of course. I have the herd of elephants, am working on getting the baby chimp (He needs a new home, because his mama is no longer, due to an illness) the Beiber kid just won't budge still though, oh well. And the Panda, well actually that is proving to be more difficult than I imagined. I guess I will either have to look into alternative methods for obtaining said shrunken head, or just continue to barter, bicker if necessary and maybe even enter into a bit of bribery with Trader Sam or one of the other local traders. I am not giving up yet..... just not sure how I can get that past Customs though. I know........ I can mail it. That should work. I don't believe that the USPS normally is on the look out for shrunken heads. Well unless they belong to politicians or mob guys.
So stay tuned ......... if one dares too!
It was a warm 80 and mostly overcast. While I saw thunder storms a short distance away they never brought water to my house. They are forecasted for tonight so may be damp in the morning.
Thunder is exciting, and so is lightning! I love that combination. Gracias for your weather update skiboy.
Looked like we could of got a thunder storm today. But never happend just 70 degrees all day long.
Do you get a lot of thunderstorms during the summer?
Sort of. Maybe 5 of 10 days there is a chance. 2 of 10 it actually rains. We just rarely get regular rain, only the thunder storms.
Since the Bay Area got some rain it's floating some clouds by me giving the chance.
I wondered if it was our storms headed your way. We had thunder here which is really odd. I have seen more thunderstorms this year than in a long time.
I'm not totally sure, it's just this time that's the case. In the winter I know almost everytime we get snow it comes from Portland or San Francisco or somewhere between and moves north or east into Idaho changing from coastal rain to snow.
While Thunder happens often I don't think it has to be rain on the west first. It just seems when I was young and lived in Cali it never rained in summer. It just seems that the front of the rockies is dues thunder storms, the back side is very dry. Then as you get into the plains more tunderstorms the further east you go.
I pay much less to weather in the summer, because it is basically really nice or a small chance of Thunder Storms that come and go quickly. So only if go hiking or camping or rafting will I check the forcast for the day. If it's just a quick bike ride I don't worry about it.
I would love to see a wunder va thunder and lightning show right now.
Last night I saw a meteor. It was not a big explosive event, like they sometimes are, but it was nice to see anyway.
On a different note..... Gold dropped $13.80 USD. Just yesterday, it had climbed back from an earlier time of under 1500 USD per ounce. I can see how commodities traders can end up losing their hair. And shirt over metals! But I am still willing to take the chance anyway, by entering this market when I am ready to do so. And it not be spongin' fer rum that I be after, but gold (And treasure in general)
I am still out in the jungle. And I almost have successfully negotiated a trade for my (As it were) shrunken head. It will be a belated birthday giftie to me, from me. I am getting tired of waiting for someone to give that to me. So I must continue to work on getting it for myself, as usual. The Beiber kid is a no go for the trade. He is still interested though in meeting Trader Sam. As well as his newest wife. She is the replacement for his last wife, who was directly responsible for making such a great stew. But how he misses her. Anyway, then I will be taking the Beiber kid on a wonderful, fun and informative (He will be getting extra credit from his home schooling teacher)you guessed it! Jungle Cruise. At some point, we will visit Trader Sam's village. He has promised me most profusely, that his head hunters will behave themselves. He cannot vouch however for the marauding primates. Nor the piranhas. And definitely no swimming allowed.
Now for an update on Trader Sam's cacao company. It is doing so well, that he has decided to list it on the NYSE. How exciting is that? I am very excited about this latest development, because I own 35 shares in his business. And counting......
I sometimes catch Trader Sam staring at my hair, but I don't think it is that to which attracts him. But rather what is under my hair............... he swears that he would never touch a hair on my head... but I don't know about that, because word in the jungle has it that he says that to whatever his current wife is. But as time moves on, so does his wife. And that being to the great beyond. Then the special of the day, is his world famous stew. Which remind me not to eat that,no matter how hungry I might be. TIA
Now turning to the news of the day..... Trader Sam's cousin, who currently resides in the States, has married recently his 5th wife. Fortunately his four other wifes, like her. For if they didn't, well lets just say, it is best left imagined than realized.
World renowned explorer Indiana Jones, will be starting a new dig right next to Trader Sam's village. At first Sam was not going to allow it. However, after much coaxing and bribing from Indy,Sam agreed. Exactly what had been bartered, or what had transpired otherwise, at this time, is still under wraps. As soon as I find out, I will share it. I do know however, that it entails zebras.
Weather in Melbourne....sunny today with a top of 57 F. Sadly, the nice weather is disappearing. Rain overnight and a top of 52 F.
I saw this thing in the sky today. Thought real hard and burst that cloud into nothing.
Rocky Mountain High and 75.
Thank you everybody for your weather updates.
In Sonoma County the high is in the upper 80's to low 90's, depending upon your particular location at this time. With a small breeze, at @ 10 mph. With high humidity.
I am currently not experiencing this mini heat wave, but instead worse..... hotter weather with even higher humidity courtesy of the jungle. Fortunately there is a nice soft cool breeze at times,especially when I go out with the skip on another fab trip down the river.
I cannot wait until I can close the deal with Trader Sam, so I can finally obtain me shrunken head. I am also very much looking forward to assisting Indy on his new dig. So my time out in the jungle will be extended. Thank goodness I am on good terms with the head hunters or else :faint: well worse actually for me. Although sometimes they do stare at me, like they are getting ideas or something. So what I do at times is attempt to convince them that if they might ever decide to add an American Citizen to their pot of stew that they will end up cursed not just in this life, but in the after life as well. Sometimes you have to put fear into the locals, otherwise, there is no telling what will happen to you nor when. Anyway, so far I seem to have their respect. I have even heard them refer to me as that crazy American woman. That is fine by me, after all everyone needs a hobby.
At this time Indy likes to take a mid day break, by taking a cat nap. So before he does that I am going to put a small (No, not poisonous) snake on his cot. I know how much he hates snakes, which so do I, but this one I can handle. I cannot wait to hear him scream like a little girl. It is just so funny. I love Indy
.
Love it! It was perfect sofa hunting weather. :cool1: Speaking of sofas- have you noticed an increase in the wild sofa population lately? :rotfl: I have seen many lounging about on the side of the street. What is up with that? :confused3 One day I counted 3 as I drove around the county! However, we are not interested in those, we want a nice tame one from the store. We considered setting our old sofa free on the street too but decided to send it off to retirement instead.
That is funny Pink B. And agreed, that it is best to just retire the sofa. That way it can go to sofa heaven, and be surrounded by it's compadres. I have seen a number of couch's, tables, bookcases, old computer monitors, used potty chairs etc of on the side of roads, or on sidewalks. Maybe it is an epidemic of some kind? I believe that sometimes it is due to the economy. One must be careful if they decide to pick up one of the couches, because anything from mice to roaches can be residing there. Just waiting for a new home..... yours! :faint: Also sometimes cats and or dogs or ? Will have gone potty etc on it. So it will be stinkified very nicely. And when it is in it's new home, one will really detect the smells then. Unfortunately, so will your pets. For they will take it as some kind of invitation. And the next thing you know, it is their new potty place. :faint:
I was hoping for more clouds. But it was terribly sunny and in the high 70's. Made it alright for some low elevation hiking. But clouds would of added nicely to the sunset.
