Man, I haven't been in a scrapbook store since last August or so. (While I was doing CM I just didn't see a need to go in). Went today and had a little fun! I got some Mickey Jolee stickers, a pack of cool diecuts that are more for Disneyland, but all but one will work for my upcoming trip to WDW (a Matterhorn one...we're planning a road trip for DL sometime next year, so I will hold onto it), the Buzz Lightyear stickers (and they had the Buzz paper someone asked about---I don't know how much it was though), some new Mickey stickers with TONS of saying in block rectangles, and a few other odds and ends. It was fun and I only spent $15. They have a punch card, which I still had from last summer. 5/25 is double punch day, so I will go back then and buy a few more Jolee stickers and such.

And today I went to Michael's and FINALLY got the Sizzix tag die....now I can sign up for tags on the next swap! :sunny:

Alice- I love to go to the lss when I haven't been in a while. It usually motivates me to get busy although sometimes it just helps to hoard!!!!

Hope you have lots of fun with your goodies!:D

Thumpersmom~~

Yes, I NEED to get motivated. I haven't scrapped in two months- very odd for me. I thought I would have time this afternoon, but after running errands and cleaning house, time is quickly dwindling!

By the way, :wave2: from a fellow SJ native. I went to Willow Glen high school and San Jose State...moved to Oregon after graduation. My parents still live there---near Foxworthy & Cherry or Almaden Expressway...familiar territory?

YES!! I too am a SJSU grad!! Class of 91

I live in the Evergreen area but travel to the lss located near where your parents live. We do not have a store in my area so I make it an event and hit all the stores. I can not imagine living anywhere else!!!

Too funny! I am class of 94; DH is class of 93 (should have been 92 but he got behind when he got called up with the Marines for Desert Storm). He was a history major, I was a child development major. I went to West Valley for my first two years, so you and I weren't at SJSU at the same time. (not that we would have really known each other---what a HUGE campus and # of people who go there!)

Are you talking about the Memories store on Camden? There is another one on Camden, near Redmond or Branham (I forget now); it's in the Avanti shopping center where Bamboola is....don't know the name of it, but I thought they had good stuff too. And then there is one up in Sunnyvale area that my Mom took me to several years ago---it was CRAMMED packed full of stuff! But for the life of me I don't remember what it was called or exactly where it was.

My in-laws taught school for 30 years over in the Alum Rock area--- (I subbed in that disctrict for the first year I was out of college, before I got married and moved up here) and I had a friend who went to Silver Creek, so I am familiar with your area too. :teeth:

Alice-Yah!!! I too went to junior college at Evergreen and then transferred to SJSU. I think everyone does that! I am a Business major.

Memories is the store I love. I also go to Scrapbook Mania located by Bamboola. There is another one Scrapbook Island or something.....they changed the name located near the Michaels on Meridian and Blossom Hill. I also just found a new one near Westgate called Picture Passion. They have tons of cool new stuff! I did some damage there!

The Sunnyvale store is Scrapbook Dreams and they just moved into a larger store-I have not gone yet. I can not find the time to make the trip. When I went before I loved all the stuff and it was hard to see everything. They always send emails of classes but I work full time and it is hard to go after work with traffic and my DS's schedule of scouts and school stuff. I keep telling myself I am going to just go!

Next time you visit you will have to check out all the places!

Just another San Jose person jumping in here to say that there is a GREAT store near Westgate - across the street, near Trader Joes (behind CityBank) called Memories Live on - great store

Have you been to Anna's Keepsakes in Willow Glen? Another good store.

Sue

Ooooo....I will have to check out Anna's Keepsakes next time I am in town...just a hop-skip from mom and dad's! Is it in downtown Willow Glen area?

Welcome Dad'n'girls!!! Nice to see another San Jose person!! I looked for the Memories Live On Store before but could not find it. I will look again next time I go over there!

I have not been to Ann's Keepsakes since they changed ownership. One of my friends went and they tried to talk her into buying more stuff then she needed and would not take no for an answer so it kinda turned me off. I will have to go and check it out again for myself.

Hi,

Anna's Keepsakes is at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Curtner Avenue in Willow Glen. There's an antique store next to it. I was just in there this past weekend. They've bought out another store (can't remember which one) so they're in the middle of rearranging their inventory. I like this store because there's a large workroom area that you can plop yourself down at and spread out your stuff !

Memories Lives On is a little tricky to find. If you are on the corner of Saratoga Avenue and Prospect with Westgate on your left, take a right onto Prospect (heading towards Lawrence I think).

On your right will be "Westgate East" - I think that's what they call it, but you'll know you're in the right area if you see Trader Joes. Don't turn into the shopping area there. Continue on till you see Boston Market and turn right in there. You'll see McDonalds on your left. Now if you look to your right (once you get past CitiBank) you'll see a hair salon (sorry, don't remember the name). Memories Live On is in that building next to the hair salon. I think there's a UPS Store on one side of the hair salon and MLO on the other side.

I hope this is not confusing! :(

Anyway, I really like MLO - just chock full of anything I could possibly want in the way of scrapbooking and rubber stamping. They also have a work area, but not as big as Keepsakes. I was in the store during their Easter sale where if you found an egg in the store, you got a gift! (I got a pretty pink flower that's one of those "quills" thingys)

They have lots of Disney paper, Jolie's, albums, etc.

I'm just starting to get into the whole scrapbook thing and I've been lurking in a few of everyone's albums and they are just wonderful !! All of you are so creative!

:D
Sue
PS - confession: who's not REALLY "DadNGirls" but somehow this person's sig comes up when I post. I think the problem is that we both work for the same company and thus have the same email addy, but in a totally different city!! I've tried to get a mod to fix it, but I'm not getting any answers. :(

Any suggestion?

Okay, Sue, you are bring back WAY too many memories with your detailed San Jose desciptions! :p I love it! I mean, I still get down there 1-2 times a year, but I grew up in Willow Glen and my grandparents lived off of Prospect Rd and my Aunt and Uncle lived off Saratoga Ave. I worked at Westgate when it was a dump (1991)- I worked at Current Factory Outlet which is no longer (I think it might be a Todai??). Now that area is SO hoity toity and nice with great shopping, etc. Amazing. I won't even tell you what my parents and Aunt and Uncle sold my grandparent's house for last fall (maybe 1100 square feet, corner lot, in Saratoga, not in good shape....it was sickening the amount of money someone paid for it...great for our family, but that is why DH and I moved to Oregon---we could afford to buy a house here LOL!). And remember the old El Paseo??? My grandma used to take us shopping there and the Cost Plus in Westgate- we would get $5 each to spend however we wanted.

I will definitely have to check out Memories Lives On if we make it down there this summer! And Anna's! Thanks for the heads up!:D
