This is a new item that wasn't on the menus the last time I was at WDW. Is it a mayonnaise based salad, is it whole lobster on a roll and most important, is it any good?
I have not had a WDW lobster roll but living in New England I've eaten more than my share of them at home.
Yes a lobster roll is chunks of lobster mixed with mayo and spices (which can vary) usually severed on a hot dog roll sometimes they put a lettuce leaf in there as well. The roll is usually served with fries.
I had one at MK last New Year's Day for lunch. I live in New England so I am not the right one to ask because we love our lobster rolls here and don't think anyone out of NE can make one right!! LOL!! Honestly it was pretty good, but I think a lot of it had to do with eating it outside in great weather and knowing that we were leaving the next day to go back to the frozen tundra, I really enjoyed it, made me think of summer. This was the first time that I had ever seen it on a menu in Disney so my husband and I just had to try them.
My family shared one last October. It was okay, but we felt that the sauce overpowered the lobster flavor. It feel into the "had it once" category of things that we were glad we tried, but aren't that likely to order again.
I am from NE as well, and I love a Good Lobster Roll.
I tried the one at Columbia Harbor House in October and I am glad I did.
It was good, not great. It was very big with lots of lobster filling. It also had shredded lettuce and it was served in a hot dog like roll. It was more like knuckle meat, rather than large chunks of tail meat, but it was very tasty. It also had more mayo than I prefer.
I certainly have had better here at home, but if in the mood and in the MK I would have it again.
Another New Englander here, and I'd pass on this one, just based on the picture (though, I'm a fan, otherwise, of CHH). Just for the record, up here there is another variety of lobster roll other than the "lobster salad" one shown here. I've had them where it was all lobster meat (no mayo, but a sprinkle of spice...possibly a paprika/salt blend) in a toasted hot dog roll, with drawn butter on the side.

I don't like that type of lobster roll - so we all have different tastes. You probably would not like the one at CHH then.
During Food & Wine fest they had a Lobster Roll with just the lobster meat and spices. No mayo, no butter. I thought it was only okay
Thanks for the replies! I think I'll have to try one just because I never have - and I love lobster. My guess is that they would be prepared in the same manner as CHH at the other places that serve it. Hopefully, some day I can try the "real thing" on a trip up to the northeast.
I was so looking forward to the lobster roll at Columbia House but when I went the end of September, I was hugely disappointed I actually took it back and told them I could not eat it It was watery, fake lobster meat and loaded with other stuff, especially green and red peppers They did refund my money but what a let down If you want a real lobster roll, try Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club They are loaded with real chunks of real lobster meat, just the right amount of mayonnaise and server on a grilled hot dog roll I am from New England and that is how to do a lobster roll

Agreed - at lunchtime, Captain's Grille serves an authentic lobster roll with a lot less filler, and it comes with really good thick-cut fries or a refreshing vegetable-orzo salad. Personally I prefer lobster rolls that are just lobster meat, spices, and butter, but this was good for the mayo version.

We were in Bar Harbor, Maine recently and my husband had a lobster roll but it had mayo and totally over powered the lobster taste - never again. Only lobster and butter go together .
