Ok so this sounds like heresy but I went to Coral Reef last week and had the lobster bisque which I loved..and then today at a local hospital I had lobster bisque there! Funny thing was they tasted really really similar! And when I asked the chef at the hospital how he made it he said it's from Cisco and he just heats it up! Now, I'm sure that doesn't happen at Disneyworld...does it???

We had dinner at Coral Reef last Friday night, and everything they served tasted like it was prepared by Chef Boy-R-Dee!

Very disappointing restaurant--our party of four each had a different entree, and NO one liked them--in fact most of the food went back uneaten, and we ordered a pizza when we got back to the resort.

From what I read on these boards, I guess I should have had a steak, but who wants to eat steak at a seafood restaurant. Coral Reef is off our list.

Most of the soups sold are from wholesalers/distributors. Rarely do the restaurants make their own soups any more.
:sad2:

. . . sad but true, a lot of soups, sauces and appetizers are mass produced.

That's one of the reasons why I like Boma so much - their soups are made fresh there. :stir: :)

I thought the lobster bisque at Coral Reef tasted just like the frozen boil in the bag soup I get at Aldis. Can't remember the name brand but it also comes in shrimp corn chowder and a few other varieties.

Anytime someone mentions Lobster Bisque, it reminds me of the Seinfeld Yada Yada Yada episode where Elaine says...."No, I mentioned the bisque!"

I have the recipe book from WDW and my son has made the Lobster Bisque from Coral Reff quite a few times and it was just like I remember it from when I had it in 1991.
We haven't eaten in Coral Reef since then because of a family member's allergies to fish. We miss it but I heard it was not as good there as in years past.
I would think they would make their own soup in the Disney Restaraunts, in very large batches.
I know they make their own cheese soup in Canada. Peggie

No soup for you! :rotfl:

How does the lobster bisque @ CR compare to the one in CDF? DBf loves the one at CDF but I would like to try CR on our upcoming trip.
