Was wondering if anyone has any info on Lo Jack or Xzilon. Just bought a new car that won't be ready to pick up until Friday. The dealer was trying to sell me both Lo Jack and Xzilon along with an extended warranty. I've been trying to do research on both before I make my decision, but was wondering if anyone here has any info on either of these. Thank you!

I am not familiar with xzilon, but I can tell you what I know about Lo Jack. I am a police officer in a small city in South Carolina. We have recently gotten a Lo Jack system. This system puts out an audible sound when a patrol car is in the vicinity of a stolen vehicle equipped with Lo Jack. This is a great tool for us.

Here are a few things to consider:
What is the vehicle theft rate where you live? If you're in a high crime area, this may be more beneficial than in an upscale gated neighborhood.

Also, check with your local police department to see if they have Lo Jack equipped vehicles. It does you no good to spend the extra money to put a Lo Jack system on your vehicle if your police department cannot track them. Call the local police and ask for a vehicle theft investigator. They should be able to tell you about the department's capabilities. And will be happy to talk to you.

Finally, consider how much you travel to large cities. If you travel a lot, this may be a good option.

Hope this helps.

I was talked into Lo Jack because the salesman said my car insurance would go down. Wrong! My insurance company doesn't recognize Lo Jack as a theft deterent.

Thank you Michelle! That's a great help!

Eclectics...I also checked with my insurance company and they don't recognize it either.

Same here! Lots of money up front - no savings on the insurance! We also suffer multiple false alarms that were only resolved by turning LoJack off. Not much value added there!

Xzilon, a VERY expensive, unnecessary wax and shine. Similar have been around for ages, to fleece new cars buyers of their money, line dealers' pockets with that money. Enjoy the new car.

LoJack is good if you live in a High Crime area, where YOUR car is the MOST popular that they steal. My DH had it on one of the corvettes, but doesn't have it now on the 2005 one. He never drives it except on the weekends, and never in a high crime area. ;)
